Last night on ESPN, Davis said "Chris Lofton should be SEC player of the year".He added "Lofton was the purest shooter in the country".He went on to say "Tennessee would be a dangerous team in the NCAA tournament" as well.

If he hadn't had the ankle in the middle of the SEC schedule, there wouldn't even be a discussion. Now though, probably not.

I'm shocked someone from ESPN givin' UT some "props." I thought I'd never lived to see the day. Although Football season is just around the corner and ESPN will go back to spittin' on the Big Orange again. Oh well let's enjoy it while it lasts.

It's the magic of Bruce Pearl. He's building ties into ESPN.
1. He let ESPN come to practice and do an "All Access" package for Sports Center last year before the tournament.

2. He is on PTI and any other media outlet that will interview him often.

3. Painted Chest/ Summit Cheerleader give ESPN a lead story for 48hrs. worth of programming.

There are many other reasons, but Pearl is building up a rapport with those at ESPN that make decisions. This will give the team great recruiting fortunes in the future.

I swear this man should be a marketing professor at UT.

He's a salesman and right now the product he's selling is great.

Have we not started to go just a bit overboard here.

I don't find anything wrong with that - the product he's selling IS great. Sure, we have our ups and downs, but judge him on his performance last 2 years - beyond wins and losses, are fans getting their money and time's worth? Not even remotely questionable - of course they are.

He's raised expectations - now we're all talking about how far we can get in the tournament.

And let's not forget the fun factor either - who isn't totally stoked to watch this team - especially live at the Tommy?

you're right. Pearl has already surpassed everthing Knight has ever done and should continue to be declared king as has become the norm here.

please don't act like you didn't understand the part of Knight's legacy that Freak was referring to...

It's too bad were about to get verbals from some of the best players in the 2008 class later this month.. If we sign McClain this spring,(2007 Center and top 50 player) we'll be legitimate final four contenders next season.. Sorry, but your going to have to give Pearl his props in the next couple of years. With the talent were about to bring in, we'll probably be talking about a final four or a championship very soon.. Knight we'll be lucky to even make the dance three years consecutively.. This program is about to blow up big-time, and your going to have to start kissing his a$$ in the very near future.
