Good points although the star rankings are more often than not indicative of success at the college level. For every 10 5* skill players you're going to wind up with more all conference type players than you will with every 10 2-3* players. There are certain positions, linemen in particular, where we just need strong guys with the right body type and * ratings don't mean much, although the biggest and strongest prospects are probably going to have high ratings if they camped anywhere of note or if their HS team got some media coverage.

Have you seen the percentages of All-Americans for 3* players vs. 5* players?

How about the percentages of 3* players getting drafted vs. 5* players getting drafted?

If not, then I suggest looking it up before commenting how "dumb" it is to care about stars. It's a good reflection, albeit not perfect.
