ESPN’s College GameDay expected at Battle at Bristol | WNML-AF

Ben Trout, the VP of customer service and guest experience at Bristol Motor Speedway, told The Food City Lead Lap on Saturday that ESPN will likely broadcast College GameDay from Bristol that morning.

“We have a pretty good indication, pretty good feeling, that Kirk Herbstreit and his crew will be in town for College GameDay,” Trout said. “We feel like that’s going to happen. We’re still waiting on some official confirmation on that.”

Tennessee last played at a GameDay location on Sept. 15, 2012, when Florida beat the Vols 37-20 in Knoxville. Before that, Tennessee appeared at a GameDay location a total of 17 times from 1995-2006.

A prime time game against a quality opponent in front of the biggest crowd to ever attend a football game, you can bet Gameday will be there.

We have an audition in front of the biggest crowd to ever attend a football game to show that we are officially back as a CFB powerhouse.

Pretty hard for them to chose any other game. Going to break the attendance record with 2 teams that don't play each other that much and you know ESPN wants to get on the hype train early so they can say they were following us all along. The atmosphere should be great but if anyone is expecting an actual game to take place then they are on something. I say we win pretty handily and don't even have to get halfway into the playbook to get the W.

Take a look at how huge this season is game by game.

ASU - Home Opener. Big regardless.

VT - Regional Power at the biggest venue in CFB history. ESPN Game Day.

Ohio - OK. Nothing exceptional here.

UF - #1 East Rival and 11 game streak on line.

UGA - #1b east rival on the road vs new coach

ATM - 1st SEC match vs traditional power before 100k+

Bama - Possible 1v2 matchup on TSIO at Neyland.

USC - Hated coach, but no bigger than a typical SEC division rivalry.

TT - Breather, but homecoming and interstate game.

UK - Possible East champ to be secured.

Mizz - New coach. Possible East champ to be secured.

Vandy - Possible East champ to be secured.

SECCG - Huge and possibly 1st time back in a decade.

Final 4 - Hype

Championship - Hype²

There are easy story lines here for every game besides Ohio & TT. Even the final 3 will get some action if we are in the driver's seat for the East and especially 1 loss or less. I just can't imagine a scenario where a season could be any higher on the national attention scale IF we take care of business (0-1 loss reg season SECCG + FF win.

The good news ... our team is probably the best we've had since 2001 (maybe 2006). So, we have a realistic chance at making it to the title game.

Can't wait!

I just hope they bring Desmond and all his negativity, so he can cry about his big house, then get trampled by the crowd.

Well also, I mean...have you looked at the week 2 games in general?

Whoever scheduled this for that week was a genius, because the others are almost all bad games verses mid majors or bad games vs FCS teams.

I think this was a foregone conclusion. ESPN won't pass up the biggest spectacle in the history of CFB.

ESPN will follow the money to Bristol. No way they'll fail to capitalize on history in the making.

Downer Desmond will predict a close game, Corso will say "Not so fast" and hoist Smokey on the table and Herbstreit will reiterate UT as his pick to win the SECE. It will be epic.

Yeah it isn't a shock to anyone, it's just something else to look forward to. The entire sports world will be focused on this game, and it is the perfect setup for us to shine.

Wish they would go back to the original version of the Game Day intro. The original version's main verse of the song referenced the "traditional programs" in the song, including OU, Bama, UGA, UF, OH st., ND, USC, Michigan, and emphasis on "Rocky Top TN!" in the song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_lIB1VEmVc

The current version (updated in 2011) eliminates the reference to TN and adds programs like "GameCocks" and "TCU". Hope they update it again for this season and add TN back!

Plus the original version such sounds better!
