Didn't Ainge set a UT record last season for % complete? A record formley held by Peyton Manning? Thats pretty elite company, and that stat is the critical one. Before he got injured according to the coaches he was playing better then ever.

Are you kidding me? Eric Ainge for heisman! Yes im a huge cocks fan but there is no way eric ainge is even considered for heisman unless he has some incredible year and i dont see that happening. Hes a decent quarterback but heisman? what are you smokin man? Also, with meachem, swaine, and the other wr all gone you really think ainge could compete for a heisman? NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

to win the heisman u have to have reporters to back u up.. remember last year with troy smith, he had Kirk Herbstreit to brag about him every time he talked on ESPN.. it also helped that kirk was the biggest reporter for ESPN and was on college gameday every saturday.. If Kirk didnt go to Ohio state, he wouldnt have bragged about Troy Smith being one of the greatest college quarterbacks ever and being the easy heisman favorite. If UT had an ESPN reporter to brag about Eric Ainge every day, then he would have a much better chance to win the heisman..

If by your Senior season most fans haven't mastered your four-letter first name, you're more than likely not in line for the Heisman Trophy.

Erik Ainge went 21-29 for 254 yards and 2 TDs in Columbia last year...if he could play all 12 games against your defense, they could probably start engraving his name on the Heisman right now.

If the rifleman could get a consistent 3 seconds protection to work he'd probably be a highlight on every other ESPN show.

Im not talking about last year and yes ainge had a great game but do you really think he will have a great year throwing the ball without meachem, swain, and bret smith? Be logical about it. there is your 3 best wrs and now there all gone. I wouldnt count on the great recruiting class you had to come in and put up numbers like them(swain meachem smith).

Both TE's are returning and the coaches have practieced using Coker or Foster as the slot receiver in some formations. UT will probably use 2 TE next season and 2 WR.

I'm sold on Ainge. He made great strides last year.

He sees the field well, works through his progressions, knows when to throw the ball away...and he's shown poise, maturity and leadership. I think he makes a fine senior quarterback, and will probably the best qb in the conference next year.

But, do I think he's a heisman candidate? No.

That's about right. The leadership and poise will come into play when he's leading those inexperienced receivers on the field.

Ainge might just be the most talented qb in the SEC this year but that's not because he's the next P. Manning. It's because SEC qb's either lack talent or are fairly young...or both.

I do agree, he'll be a fine senior qb and leader, but that's it.
