Eric Berry's future / Peyton status?

If he leaves next season, they will and should name a street or something after him. If he stays he will be mentioned with the likes of Peyton/ Reggie as one of the great all time vols. I think hes all ready the best safety we have ever had and we have had some good ones.

He will be a great recruiting tool.

He will go down in history as a legend. Having said that, I would definitely agree that he has enough draft stock to be a unanimous top 10 pick, but with his goal of becoming a dentist, he would likely use an extra year of college rather than earn his degree as a pro

i will no doubt shed a private tear the day EB decides to move on. I knew all about Peyton and Al Wilson when i was younger and we were winning, but I was too young to really appreciate it. EB is the first truly great player that i have got to watch go from high school star to college phenom. (hopefully BB will be the next). I will miss him, but I think at this point he might be able to help our team just as much by going to the pros and putting the hurt on the big boys.

EB has absolutely zero reason to stay. In fact, I would encourage him to go...the only thing he could do by staying is hurt his draft stock...of course, barring a serious injury/bad year this season. If he continues to play like the EB we all know, he should go...as much as it pains me to say it.

The only real reason to stay is to improve draft status or win a championship, and neither of those appear likely...or you stay if you are a guy like Tebow who will be an epic NFL failure.

Peyton's status will be hard to top, he is looked at in the top 5 qbs of all time, so eric berry would have to be the best db ever, which is possible

I saw this mentioned on another board, but not here. I didn't really search for it here though so sorry if already posted.

Someone brought up the potential of Eric Berry staying for his senior year to go for a Championship run if everything is looking that way as far as on the field success. I would normally say no way he comes back because he is a lock for the top 10. However, Eric is different then most kids these days. While he dreams of the NFL; he values the college experience and getting his degree. He reminds me of the Peyton school of thought and the more recent Taylor Mays of USC( who was a top 20 lock but came back for senior season this yr).

My prediction right now is: 85% this is his last year and 15% he stays but if we have a very good year this could become 50/50 real quick with this new staff and the ability to prepare a second year under Monte.

Thought?

To be honest I would say your wrong but I think you have a very valid point. i mean here is a huge thing to look at. He could of left for the NFL Now and be a top pick but he stayed even after a coaching change. He very well could stay for his senior year.

I would love to see 4 years of EB. Just don't think it will happen. If I was in his position I would leave eraly, but on the other hand you are only a college student once in your life. Those are some great years of your life for sure.

Huh?

Berry didn't have a choice, he had to stay for this season as he will only be a true Junior. The end of this upcoming season is the when Berry becomes eligible for the draft.

IMO the biggest reasons that EB is gone after this season will be the NFL salary cap for rookies starting 2011. Why would he return for his senior season and end up costing him millions. I think alot of Jr's will come out next year for the draft because of this reason.
