Has he improved? Has he shown a noticeble improvement from week to week?

This guy came in as a 5 Star recruit. We see freshmen on other teams come in and get coached up and make contributions as freshmen, yet for some inexplicable reason, they get here and seem to just get lost in the shuffle or not live up to the hype.

Is it coaching, effort, or the players aren't that good? Seems like LSU, FLA, USCw, and tOSU don't have anywhere near as many 4-5 Star busts as we do. Why are their recruiting classes pretty much playing up to their expectations but ours seem to struggle?

He can atleast tackle. I mean on our defense that puts you in the cream of the crop. He also scored more points on that interception at Florida than our offense scored in the second half Saturday.

I'm trying to at least spin the hell out of this.

Ill 2nd that. The kid is very good. If you watch him the kid is all over the place, playing his heart out.Thats more than I can say with some of the guys on D. I say 10% because hes a freshmen (mistakes will happen) 90% on the Coaches. No matter what I will enjoy watching this kid on Sundays play.

Eric Berry.......was not even CLOSE to being the best freshman CB on the field Saturday. Hell, Jackson #3 for Bama was the best DB period. So much for recruiting services.:good!:

Like I said, why do the recruiting services seem to get it right with recruits that go to other schools, but look like idiots when the players come here? Are we just that unlucky that we get all of the 4-5 Star busts, or do we not put the guys in positions to make plays or coach them up to where they can contribute?

How many big name recruits get kicked off the team?

This is not a cop-out for the coaching staff, as they are to blame for this as well. I'd be willing to bet UT leads the country in big name recruits getting the boot

Berry is the best tackler on the team.... which is sad considering he's a safety.

There were times he looked lost out there.

Give him a break, he's a true freshman playing safety, which is more complicated than corner. He was playing better at corner, playing man coverage (minus red zone), although vs. Bama we sure did play a lot of zone, even not in the red zone.

It's the coaching for sure. Another problem is that they overload a certain postition and have a hole at another. They will recruit 6 running backs and 8 receivers and then wonder why the O-line or D-line is weak. Look at Vinson, he was a WR and this team always seems to be moving guys to new postitions and it's because they recruit too many receivers and backs. He will be very good but this team always seems to have a player on the field learning a new postition. They need to recruit based on need and not on how many stars the kid is graded for.
