Eric Berry has not had his chance to show off his abilities in the first 2 games. I see 2 picks, and becoming the Heisman frontrunner if TN wins.

Why do we do this to ourselves? I understand the whole "keep hope alive" mentality, but for goodness sakes, that 28 pt spread seems a bit generous.

Instead of hopes sky high, let's try realism for a change. Obviously I'm not a big time poster on VN, but I love the content. I just find the Kool-Aid abuse troubling to say the least.

If we lose by 21 or less I'll count it a success.

Not if they keep lining him up the way they have. Sure, he's available as a tackling machine, but it seems like he isn't getting put in place to make big plays.

Berry isn't getting the numbers he had last year the way they are using him right now.

He is NOT winning the Heisman...we are NOT winning this game unless God himself intervenes...I love my Vols...but reality is a cold shower sometimes. I am hoping for 7-5 and a win over UGA. THAT would make my year.

teams aren't throwing to his side. so far he's basically shutting down one side of the field. they see this and are using him for run support, which has really done well so far.

Exactly. We aren't trying to scheme so Berry can get more picks; we are scheming so we can have the best defense possible.

I believe this could be a great game for EB. Mainly because Meyer wants to show the world that his players are better than EB and he's going to throw right at him and force EB to prove him wrong. Hopefully Meyer's ego will lend itself to a couple of turnovers.

You got it. He will have more impact for us but it will show less to the casual observer.

The guy looked Al Wilson like in the UCLA game - he was flying into every tackle (whether he made it or someone else did). He's not roaming the secondary though where the INTs with room to run come from.

Screw the Heisman - Monte knows what to do with talent like that.

Can anyone with ESPN insider summarize the article about Eric Berry?

Basically from the ESPN Magazine piece, it was talking about Monte describing how multiple Eric is. In that he has the ability to come up in run support, the ball skills to play center field, and the athleticism to cover slot receivers.

One neat story involved E. Berry correcting a blitz call by Monte. E Berry said, "We can't blitz when they are in that formation, somebody will be uncovered." Monte disregarded. The next time that formation came to the line, Monte called blitz. Somebody was wide open!

Also Monte's infamous quote, "Berry should be the #1 pick in the draft next year."

Hope that helps.

I agree 100%. Finally someone with the right amount of logic and thought shows up in here.

Hadn't had his chance to show off his abilities against lowly WKU and a mediocre PAC-10 team? Where's the logic in that?

Some of the posts here are absolutely hilarious.
