One of the premier athletes in the country visited the University of Georgia Saturday night for the big Georgia/Tennessee match-up. Many experts think those two SEC programs are the teams to beat for Eric Berry, so this game could have been important. This five-star athlete talks about his visit here.
"It was alright," said Berry when asked about his unofficial visit to Georgia. "I had a chance to talk to some of the coaches, so that was cool. The game was alright and atmosphere was like I expected."
Berry talks about his time with the Georgia coaches.
"I met up with Coach Garner first and after I talked to him, he took me to Coach Richt. I talked to Coach Richt for a minute and he let me know how he wanted me there. He just shared his feeling about me coming there really."
"After Coach Richt, I went and spent some time with Coach Martinez. I talked to him for about 45-minutes. He talked to my mom for a while too. Coach Martinez went over all the guys he has coached that went into the NFL. He just made his pitch really."
Berry has been told he will play both ways at Georgia, but he is not so sure of that right now.
"They tell me I can play defensive back and wide receiver or whatever, but they didn't let me talk to any offensive coaches. I am not sure if they are just telling me that or what," Berry said.
After talking to the coaches and spending time at the Butts-Mehre building, Berry along with the other recruits headed for Sanford Stadium.
"The Dawg Walk was okay I guess," he said. "It was just different from the walk up at Tennessee. At Georgia, we had to walk around and away from the Dawg Walk, but at Tennessee, we went right through it with the team. It was just a lot different."
"The game atmosphere was nice, I liked it. It was pretty loud like I expected it to be."
This five-star athlete has now been to games at Tennessee and Georgia. He compared the atmospheres a little.
"It was much, much louder at Tennessee. I am not sure if it because more people are there or because of where I was sitting. At Tennessee, we sat down in the end zone and at Georgia, we were up higher. The atmospheres are a lot different, but I had a good time at each place."
Berry is not sure where he will be next, but he does have an official visit set.
"I am going to Auburn later on this month for my first official visit when they play Tulane," he said. "My other official visits will go to Tennessee, Southern Cal, Georgia, and Ohio State."
"I am not sure if I will take anymore visits during the season or if the rest of them will be after the season. I will make my decision close to signing day after all my visits have been taken."
