Eric Berry on offense?

The other thing is that if Berry does end up being very good then how do you risk a difference maker by playing him both ways....Would it really be worth it?

I watched his prospect video the kids got speed i know it was against highschool talent but i mean y not put him in the slot or put him in some toss plays i mean who knows with an opening who knows what this kids could do on offense

RT, nobody on this board can think outside of the box. Your point is well taken. I agree this kid is by far the only gamebreaker that I've seen on this team. He reminds me of Champ Bailey. It is not going to detract from his defensive schooling to get the ball in his hands 4 to 5 additional times on offense or returning kicks.

For goodness sakes, Carl Pickens was switched from receiver to safety (by coach Majors) in the middle of his freshman year and instantly became the best secondary
player that we had.:salute:

Its alot easier to go from offense to defense though, IMO.

the phrase for cornerbacks and safeties who drop easy ints comes to mind:

"and that's why they aren't on offense"

(note, before I get ripped, i'm not saying Berry has bad hands, just a common phrase that comes to mind)

No reason for you to get ripped. Berry played QB and Safety in high school. He didn't play WR. He was being recruited on defense anyway.

Hes our best tackler...dont risk it...this year anyway

That's why we need to get him off the defensive side of the field for a few plays. Otherwise, with our front seven acting like a sieve we will get him killed (like Jason Allen did) trying to stop runaway trains.

That and they are trying to ruin him by switching him back and forth between corner and safety. The kid belongs at corner, but they want to ruin him like they did Demetrice Morley. Of course HE then went on to ruin himself further. haha

Ruin him, lol. Playing both will actually help him get an even better understanding about what everybody in the secondary is doing. But, thats not the important misconception in your statement. He has always been a safety! In a new rivals article Berry says he has always played safety and that he is much more comfortable at safety right now. He says he has never played CB and he can't believe he was the #1 CB in the country on rivals. He has all the tools to be a great CB and he realizes that. But, ruin him moving him back and forth is laughable. Right now he is much more knowledgable and comfortable at safety.

His natural position is at safety. He played safety in highschool.

Moving him back and forth is not going to ruin him. Look at Jason Allen.

Our D needs every hand it can get our O is scoring enough to win but the D is giving moore than enough to loose. Why risk him on O, I think that risk would be too great to take at this time.

If we are to believe the coaches and players (i.e. Ainge), we have the talent on O. So I'm not sure Berry would change too much. We just need our young talented guys already on O to get more involved and start making plays.

Not this year. We cant risk losing another guy to injury in defense and his injury chances would increase playing both ways.

i could see him being experimented with. man, that would suck though if he got heurt getting hit on offense. the impact is different in some ways. on defense you can somewhat control how and where you want to get hit, on offense you get hit from anyone and everywhere.
