Enough with the suspensions Coach!

We get the point. Or do we? This guy is just trying to avoid actually doing a responsibility that is due as a coach and especially a football coach, and it's much more important because it's at Tennessee.

Or should I say harder!

Just because a player screws up, throws chairs, smoke marijuana, punches a person in the face, or tells somebody to shut up. You just can't suspend him.

I understood why coach Fulmer did this a few years ago, because he had preasure from people aside him.

That was when his job was in question, and a big 'hit' was simply clean up the act of the others. So he basically avoided it, and just removed anyone that did any kind of trouble.

And that's not right!

Were talking about humans, not dogs who you can drown after a loss. This is embarrasing to not us people of Tennessee, but you coach, and the acts are showing what direction we are working at.

Stop making exuses, and do some coaching. It takes more than just barking out, and calling plays, and recruiting.

Once you recruit them, the work hasn't even started.

Isn't that what the pride is about?

The best way to say it is to say this isn't a good post.

Dirty?

Maybe Urban knows how to deal with them.

Just throw away guys like Banks, Morely, etc. What if Peyton Manning threw a pie across the kitchen at Birch Building, and hit somebody, or even landed on the floor and didn't clean it up.

He gets in trouble, and Fulmer says don't do it again, and he does it again.

Suspend him?

You are thinking Peyton wouldn't do this, he is a good guy. The answer is what do you know what anyone does? And whatever he has done in the past, doesn't make him the person he is today.

Peyton is a good guy, a big part of Vols tradition, though he can be a snobby person at times, still a good guy.

Guys like Banks who throws a chair off the balcony might actually be a decent fellow.

Too bad Fulmer blew it, not James Banks!

I don't care how many so called chances people are given.

You have to understand the term 'football family' and guys like Fulmer are afraid to actually work at it, so he just releases him.

A very cowardly thing to do.

Both sides made a promise upon signing day.

Fulmer doesn't keep his!

It doesn't matter if he misses classes. What the heck does Fulmer know about his situation.

Maybe he is having issues. My gosh, it's summer - is he taking summer classes?

Is this football sessions?

Cut the crap Fulmer, and do your job. It ain't soppose to be easy.

Why in the H3ll would you want Fulmer to just act like nothing happened?....Tennessee is a clean and respected program.....why change that image, oh and the fact that it is MORALLY WRONG!

I'd rather him dish out suspensions then run a dirty program like Meyer..

Yep, Florida would NEVER suspend a player like Coker unless he commited 1st degree murder.

If Fulmer lets Coker get away with whatever it is he did then it is likely other players may try to do the same thing. Meyers strategy of being too easy on his players may backfire on him someday big-time.

This is ludacris, Players wouldn't respect him if he let the players do what ever they want...you just can't do that, sorry to dissapoint you. Wow, just wow

YEAH COACH! Lets slap em on the wrist for all their misbehavings!!! They came to UT to play football and if they want to screw up, throws chairs, smoke marijuana, punch a person in the face, or tell somebody to shut up, its ok because they are football players.

Ok, sarcasim is turned off now.

You must be young! It is unfortunatly the coaches responsability to keep his student athletes on the straight and narrow. These kids are given free tuition to play for the university. Fulmer has never just released a player on the first offense. No one within the Volnation wants this program to end up like FSU or Miami.

Banks blew it not Fulmer! Banks was given every opportunity to get his act straight. I tell you what, next time your employer makes you take a drug test. you should fail it. then when you have been given a second chance and have to take a second test. give them a test that has been tampered(diluted) and see if you are still employed.

I have a problem with your post. A large problem.

It is not the coaches job to keep a player...any player...on the team at any expense.

It's the players job, and his responsibility, to conduct himself in such a manner as to not cast a shadow over the university he represents. This includes (a) academic responsibilities, (b) team functions, (c) personal behavior, and (d) obeying the law. Yes, the coaches should, and do, monitor the athletes. But in the end, it is up to each individual to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with their position as students, athletes, and citizens.

It's called "responsibility and accountability". Apparently, you believe this falls on the shoulders of the head coach. For athletes.

Tell me, who shoulders that burden for med students? The head at UTMC?

How about law students? The State Attorney General?

And ag students? The cows?

Your post reflects the same disease that has almost taken over pro sports, and has filtered down to the college and high school level. It's called "I'm-an-athlete-so-anything-I-do-is-somebody-else's-fault-itis". Michael Vick is the most recent athlete to be diagnosed with this horrible disease.

It's crap, is what it is.

I don't know what Coker did, or didn't do. I do know the head coach has suspended him. Anyone here can tell you I ain't a big fan of Fulmer, but right now he's the captain of the ship, and what he says, goes. End of argument.

It's opinions like yours, and coaches who embrace it, that have permanently soiled the sacred landscape of sport. And two generations of athletes who have come to believe that they are beyond and above the rules that apply to the rest of us.

Go Vols.

Captain Orange is clueless and needs to be banned for some of those absurd comments he has made about Fulmer.

Compare arrests at Miami since 1999 to UT's record in such matters for the same time period. People in glass houses...

Sorry. I just can't see anybody making an argument for teams that get in brawls and bash helmetless players on the opposing team with their own headgear.
