I'm a student at UT now, and I think he deserves one more year. I just think it's asinine that we as fans yelled and screamed for some new blood on offense and now that he FINALLY did it and it appears the person he hired can't cut the mustard everyone is using that as an excuse to say he can't coach anymore. If Cutcliffe was here we wouldn't be in this situation, and if A) Clawson gets his crap together this offseason or B) Fulmer replaces him with someone competent we won't be in this situation next year.

What hand did Clawson have in UT's miserable performances in 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2007?

It is not Phils fault that you have too high expectations of our program most years. Can the man have one down year? They wanted to fire Paterno a couple of years ago too, and now he is in the top ten. Wake up and show a little support. The bags on your heads dont make Phil look bad. They make you look stupid.
?? Hope you meant "your".

According to the broadcast last night, the Vols haven't won the SEC since they took the Nat'l Championship back in '98. I hadn't given it much thought, but that surprised me.

0 for 3 the last decade. 2 losses against back up QBs.

At the rate that UF and UGA recruit, UT will be looking at third place most years in the near future

You know that UT has fallen off when even the South Carolina game is always a nailbiter

you guys will pick up a good coach and I hope taht you keep Clemson from getting some young stud coach...

All I know is that our fan base whines and moans more than any other in the country. If we had Meyer we would be complaining that, until recently, he couldn't run the football. If we had Tuberville we'd be raging that they had terrible offenses and that he changes coordinators like other people change shirts. If we had Les Miles half the people on this board would be waiting with bated breath for him to have one bad season so they could run the idiot out of town, no matter what results he had produced. People here want something that does not exist: A perfect coach. Fulmer is certainly not that, but he's pretty damn good. People wanted Fulmer fired before he won the national championship too. Give the man one more year to see if they fix their issues on offense. That's all I'm saying.

nice post
I'm pulling for option B

No offense, but I don't think there has been a day since the 05 season, when that fact hasn't been mentioned on this board...

You do know that we, along with almost every other school in the country, could care less about Clemson, right?

I voted for fulmer to be fired. Normally I would not want anyone fired. This has gone on long enough. Fulmer will pick up a few wins probably close wins in the last 3. He might even win big vs wyoming. None of those wins will really matter but you can believe his supporters will point to that as a turn around. I dont believe he will step down willingly. Hamilton needs to go ahead and say enough is enough.

You did a good job in the past phil but its time to say goodbye.
I dont wish anything bad for fulmer. Maybe he can get a job with MTSU or UTC..(not that he needs the money). The SEC has become to be too difficult for him now.

My Vote.... Fire Fulmer and the entire staff and let them stay on until the end of the year. Fulmer has been good for TN, but the good times are obviously done with him as the head coach. Yes, it is possible that once every few seasons TN could have a decent year with Fulmer as the coach, but the days of competing for SEC and National Titles annually are done. TN deserves to be in the thick of the national picture every year. At this point, the TN program can only hope to have a good year every once in a while. TN is clearly a second tier program now. It's a shame!
