Four-star offensive tackle Niko Kampas rolls into town this weekend for his official visit. The international prospect from the NFL Academy has been quiet in his recruitment with Michigan and Auburn both involved here. Glen Elarbee went overseas to check on Kampas in the spring contact period, which led to him setting up an official visit with the Vols. Tennessee will have the ability to connect Kampas with former NFL academy standout Luca Wolf during the visit as well.

Elarbee went to a whole other country??!! I thought all he did was sit in his office and weird people out with his "awkwardness", while NIL did all the work??

Where does Tennessee stand for German lineman OL Niko Kampas?​


NFL Academy standout Niko Kampas has been a Tennessee target for quite a while. He made his way to the states this weekend to check out Rocky Top.

“Everything,” Kampas said about what he enjoyed.

“Coach Elarbee and my family and I have a strong connection ever since he came out to visit me at the Academy in London. It’s always fun to be around the players and see Luca (Wolf). We lived together for a year so it’s great to see his development since we have been separated. I think I enjoyed seeing how Luca thrives and the players thrive in this environment.”

He spent time with offensive line coach Glen Elarbee and those two hit it off from a personality standpoint.

“He is passionate about it,” Kampas said. “You can feel it when his eyes flash when he talks about football. He is so genuine. We know each other and have talked to each other for a year or something. We talk about 10 minutes about football and the rest about life. It I have a problem I just go to him. It I had stress about recruiting he was there for me. He told me to take my time and he never pressured me to anything.”

He also got to sit down with head coach Josh Heupel and talk about what it’s like to play at Tennessee.

“The first time I was on a call with coach Heupel I wasn’t super sure because it was kind of superficial and different from the talks I had with coach Elarbee,” Kampas said. “During the visit I noticed how the dynamic is and how cool of a person he is in a relaxed environment and still have a passion for something. He really focused on how I feel about it and the inner motivation of a player. I love it. I see how he loves Tennessee and it’s awesome.”
