Thought it might help to put all of this in one place... coaches who have been linked to Tennessee but have since been eliminated due to signing elsewhere, signing extensions for their current positions, or publicly denying rumors. I realize that public declarations don't always mean anything, but it would still be helpful I think.

Feel free to help me update with links.

David Cutcliffe: Signed extension with Duke - Duke coach David Cutcliffe agrees to contract extension - CBSSports.com

Bob Stoops: Publicly denied wanting to leave OK. Sooners head coach Bob Stoops responds to coaching vacancies such as Tennessee Volunteers

Al Golden says he is committed to Miami (Nov. 22, 2012): Even amid NCAA investigation, Al Golden insists he's committed to future of Miami football | Fox News

Jimbo Fisher: Happy where he is: Florida State's Jimbo Fisher: 'I'm where I want to be'

Edit: Mods, could this mayhaps be stickied?

I'm not saying they would take it but what would you expect Bob Stoops and Jimbo Fisher to say?

And yes, you forgot Gruden.

I would not eliminate either Stoops or Fisher based on their comments to the media. Remember, Saban was NOT going to be leaving Miami for Alabama.

I think the real key is to look at exactly what they say. If a coach says something like "hahaha that's crazy", "i am committed to these boys and the university", or "i love my job" then I dont think that actually means very much.

If they say "i am not leaving the university" then i mark them off though admittedly they could just be lying.

A lot of this is word games to the media.

Nick Saban approves this thread.

I appreciate your input, but as I mentioned in the OP...I realize that public declarations don't always mean something. I just thought it would be helpful to have all the info in one place.

The only coach I would list as being eliminated is Cutcliffe due to his new contract extension. The rest of the guys are just speaking coach speak.

Jon Gruden signs a five year extension with ESPN

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders coach agreed to an exclusive contract with ESPN that begins in September 2012.
(emphasis added)

Good info and not something that I have seen brought up before. However, that article is dated more than a year ago, and I think it was Chris Lowe that said Gruden did infact have genuine interest in the UT job.

" that article is dated more than a year ago.."
Of course, but all that means is that he's one season into a five season contract.
It would seem that someone will be buying four years of ESPN contract if he's hired.

Not everybody is a scumbag like Saban :ermm:

****Newsflash****Everything on the internet is not real!!

Coaches never come right out and say yea Im thinking about leaving, whether they are or not. Especially if they have a bowl game coming up.

The reports earlier today was that Mark Stoops had turned KY down.
