Just so we're clear. The Charter guys could have easily pulled out a second modem from their van with a new power adaptor and hooked it up and had you working in a day but they couldn't be bothered to have tried that? They should prorate your bill for losing a weeks worth of service.

and smoked some weed in the van

Negative. On the first service call they tried 3 different modems.

How did you fix it?

Bought a new modem (different brand). Plugged it in. Called Charter to activate it and Voila!

Works like a champ.

No idea what the issue was. Doubt it was my electrical system - that was Charter's guess (though they said they didn't know what could be wrong with my electrical system that would cause the problem).

All I know is I had a power blip. When I turned stuff back on it didn't work, Charter replaced everything and it wouldn't work. I switched modem brand and it works.

Don't forget hitting it with a stick. That is crucial in my opinion.

Charter supplies a modem for free, it's a shame you had to buy one to fix your problem. I'd call them and see if they will give you a credit that will pay for your modem.

Sounds more like they tried the same modem 3 different times to me. I smell bulls**t on their end but I'm glad you are up and running.

It wasn't an electrical problem. They were just slinging s%%t against the wall. Again, unless you have some fast switching loads in your home from like a newly added AC-DC inverter or a large high speed computer, which would generate some noise on your home service.

Just so you know, an inverter is DC to AC.
