I'm tempted to give this a go for a couple of months... even if it's not stellar - what other rpgs exist on the PS4 currently??

Maybe a stupid question, but will I have needed to play earlier Elder Scrolls games to understand this one?

I'm a huge RPG buff and, as you say, there are few rpg options on PS4. That is why I'm asking.

while it would probably be nice to know some of the lore. I think you could proably play the game just fine without having played previous versions.

Bethesda always bring their A game to the table. I'll trust them with this delay.

Bethesda just published this iirc. Zenimax is the developer and honestly I was greatly disappointed from what I've played of it. It doesn't feel enough TES and it doesn't feel quite enough MMO to me. The product I played just felt half assed in both respects.

This this this and this.

Elder Scrolls is a fantastic series. I don't think this is a good example of the game though. I've played a bit of it too and I don't like it.
