I never read the story about Butch rolling his ankle celebrating the Hail Mary at UGA, then pretended he was praying, until I saw it in the comments. Sounds right.
Maybe a hot take, but I am cool with everything about that moment in time, even Butch's kneel. That's that kind of game that we will be talking about in 30 years like it was yesterday.

What do I remember? I remember that Butch Jones was always too focused on his appearance, to the point of obsession. I've mentioned it before, but the moment he did that little kneel-down during a game at Neyland stadium in an exact mimicry of the General Neyland statue all the alarm bells in the universe went off for me. It was obvious to the point of being obnoxiously so. Like - how do you have time to even think that up, much less do it during a game? What kind of priorities do you have?

But that wasn't the only thing. He never seemed to be composed or in control of his emotions, which is like red flag number one for a coach. That field goal from the 1 foot line against Oklahoma. That albatross hung around his neck his entire time at Tennessee and deservedly so. The little "Yippee Skippee!!" jump when Jennings caught that Hail Mary. Skipping the Vandy presser when they beat his super-duper-team in 2016. Just never seemed to actually be in control of himself or the situation - even though he really really wanted to be. Again, always focused on his appearance before anything else.

There was that preseason article from 2017 I think, maybe in the Athletic or Lindy's or something, where someone talking anonymously said (I'm paraphrasing here) that "Jones has to be the smartest guy in the room. It isn't enough for Butch Jones that Tennessee wins games, they have to win them due to the decisions he makes. It has to be about him, not about anyone else." That always stuck with me.

But not as much as him lighting up cigars with the Bammers after watching Alabama beat his own guys who he had recruited and coached for years. That was truly something else. The pettiness of a no-talent ass clown on full display.

He was also too ignorant to realize that the Bama players were making fun of him by celebrating with him after that game.

According to Butch it's not right. He said before the game that he was standing in that corner of the end zone thinking about his father who had just passed away. You felt like his father was standing there with him. When he began to run out on the field he realized where juwan caught the pass was right where he was standing before the game and broke down. I no fan of butch Jones, But I would trust that over a message board with no evidence.

If it wasnt for the legacy class and Dobbs
Those 9-4 seasons wouldn't of happened I could be wrong, but he wasted alot of talent.
Debord was a good thing for Dobbs though.
I wonder how Dobbs would have done under Bajakien in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

What, you don’t think him fetching Saban’s lunch and washing his car wasn’t incredibly instrumental in their win over our VOLS? I thought the same thing when I saw that picture, getting completely trolled by Bama players. Just another example of his lack of awareness and silly photo ops.

For all the goofs he made he still went 9-3 two seasons and beat Kirby Smart, the last Vol coach to pull that off. Not regretting he's gone at all.
