Effort and Enthusiasm to suceed as a team

Effort and enthusiasm is lacking according to Geno and what he says here definitely seems to fit a lot of Lady Vol players and even the coaches as well.

A look at the UConn women’s basketball recruiting class: 2016-17 | SportzEdge

What Genno is talking about is judging the character of your recruits over their talent. I and me teams have a difficult time winning championships. Genno and Pat coaches/coached the same way, no one player is bigger than the whole. It works and as Genno and Pat have proved, it will win you championships. To be successful you have to be prepared to lose if that is what it takes to win.

That is the difference between Pat and Holly she always made players play as a team Holly can't seem to make that happen. When all but 500 shots were taken by a variety of players that shot a 38.5 percentage that is not teamwork. I believe in freedom to shoot but there are many many shots in our game where our shot selection was terrible.

Holly can't get a recruit to come here regardless of their ability or desire and enthusiasm. I remember that by this time when Pat was coach we had three or four commits waiting to sign. Now were begging what is left of 2016 and anyone in 2017 to come here. It may have nothing to do with Holly but it is sure looking that way.

+++++++++++

geno and Pat also ran most of their designated responsibility through their SF's.

And humility. we don't think of geno as humble... but if you watched the game he went out of character to stop a run. Syracuse was on a 12-0 run and Geno called the first defensive-TO I have seen him call in many games I have watched him coach.

usually he MAKES his players play through what most coaches will not let their players play through. but in this instance, he did it strictly as a def-TO.

You have to be confident and slightly arrogant to succeed as a coach. But you also have to know when to humble yourself.
