As all of us predicted, the media are playing up the Kiffin angle for the Florida game. The Orlando Sentinel has FOUR stories on their webpage this morning about the UT-Florida game and how the Kiffin comments have made it a huge game.

Here's one of them: Orlando Sentinel - Gators OL: Lane Kiffin 'struck a nerve' with team by

But I have to say, as a Florida fan who has really been looking forward to this for awhile, Tennessee's loss to UCLA has taken a lot out of the upcoming game for me.

I think if UT had won that game in nail biter fashion, everyone on the board would be excited about how Kiffin had turned things around in terms of attitude and the brashness would be there. Now, I don't know, it really seems even from a Gator perspective like this Saturday lost a lot of its lustre.

Perhaps in a few days it will be more intense, but right now? Nope.

Lets all lie to ourselves and say TN was just looking ahead to Florida, maybe that will help?

funny how no one in FL is smart enough to use the whole quote. Guess that would be too much reading for the gators

maybe kiffin threw the game to lull florida into a false sense of overconfidence. it's aaaalllllll part of the plan.

Hopefully the UCLA loss will end up a blessing in disguise. The players are going to get their arces worked this week, and the loss will help them keep their focus and should make them even hungrier.

Ha, I noticed that, as well.

I really don't hold that quote against him, not nearly as much as others do. The cheating comment is the one that gets my goat.

If we're so easy to beat, why does this game mean so much to UF players? They wouldn't get mad if Charleston Southern had run their mouths before that game. Just shut up and play the game, UF. I'm so sick of hearing this crap. Yeah, God forbid, CLK said we were going to beat them this year. I'm kind of glad we have a coach that plans on beating UF, even if he's wrong. Stop being so sensitive UF, if you're as good as you think you are, you'll have no trouble lumping us vols in the same category as Charleston Southern and Troy.

ok we didnt get a good gauge of what needed to be really focused on after playing western kentucky high school. This shows what needs to be worked on the most. Im sure practice this week will be more then "workin like heck." I expect kiffin will come in with a plan, whether or not the personel will execute is a different story. To say it is going to be a complete beatdown and blah blah as inconsequential. Its an SEC game, and UF has not played or will play a defense that is this brutal

"He says that now, it gets me excited," Wilson said. “I have nothing bad to say baut coach Kiffin...We don’t like to listen to that stuff, it just adds to the rivalry.”

really?

A lot of it is media hype, no doubt about it. Then again, no other coach has had the temerity to call Urban Meyer a cheater like that.

I really anticipate that UT will run something like 85 % of their offensive plays. Keep us off the field and Crompton from having to make decisions. UT wants the score to be in the teens. Anything past that ....

Watching football last night I saw a cool advertisement regarding the upcoming game. You might not like CLK’s brashness but if this were still a Fulmer coached team coming off a 5-7 season, this would be considered UF’s 3rd snoozefest of the season and would not garner much media attention. Not good for a team trying to win the media hyped beauty pageant that the BCS has become.

It is media hype, I agree. I just don't get why it's such a threat if we're as bad as the UF players and fans think we are. We might as well be Troy according to them.
But I bet you love us having a coach that stirs the pot like that finally, dont you? It at least makes things interesting!

Nationally---no affect. Pointspread still opened at 28. In Vol fans' minds, the effect is letting go of the false hope instilled from the WKU win. We now know we REALLY have no QB that can play under pressure--and there will be plenty of that this week.

Lowered Ticket Prices. These Douchebags on Craigslist offering 50 yd line seats for a grand apiece are done.

That's why UT is going to run, run, run. Hardesty and Brown need to make sure the training staff have some buckets of ibuprofen hanging around because, for the two of them, I suspect its going to be a really long day.

The only benefit to the situation, I agree.

i expect a very very physical game, this game may turn out to be a hard hit highlight reel

They are going to stack the box, Gomer wont or cant pass. the defense better get well rested. They will play the majority of the game.

our D will be on the field so much that by the 4th quarter we will be out of gas

Actually I think the offense will run the ball and let the play clock down to 1 each play. I don't think the defense will be on the field as long as we think..

I don't know about you, but I always hate it when a team the Vols are about to play takes a bad loss the week before. That never helps. The ucla loss does not help uf.
