Really depends if it's a partial or complete tearNot sure of time frame for recovery with that particular injury but tendons do take a while to heal. At least with that injury the other knee structures are hopefully intact and unaffected.
Good info Willis, the confidence mentioned will be paramount as to his time frame for getting back to his pre-injury abilities.Really depends if it's a partial or complete tear
Patellar Tendon Tear Recovery Time in the NFL
Typical return-to-play timeline: 9–12 months
General Phases
0–6 weeks: Immobilization and early motion
6–16 weeks: Strength and movement restoration
4–6 months: Running and controlled explosiveness
7–9 months: Football-specific drills
9–12 months: Return to games if strength and confidence return
Even after clearance, performance often lags behind early.
Actually a rupture is just a grade 3 tear which means completely torn. A tear is either partial or complete (rupture)Torn Patellar and ruptured patellar are very different. I've had both and ruptured my L Knee patellar twice. If it was ruptured, he won't be back more than likely. Torn? he'll be back towards the end of the year.
