Why would you say he is that much better? Gran seems like an OK to good hire...I wouldn't say amazing. He is a good recruiter...OK RB coach...

Top 25 recruiter, and all you have to look at is his track record and the players he has coached.

Drayton will land on his feet somewhere, but he is not anywhere close to Gran's level.

Considering our RB production this past season, and thinking back to Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams, I would have to agree that Gran is much better than Drayton.

Drayton also told recruits to rethink their commitments while he was still under contract with UT.

I am not saying Drayton is a bad coach. He is just not on Gran's level IMO.

Drayton could have been basing that on the fact that he didn't know if he was gonna have a job or not and the recruits were asking him if he was gonna be there. Either way if Gran is the better man for the job...bring him on.

If he was still getting a paycheck from UT. His job is to sell them UT.

I know my boss wouldn't stand for me throwing away resources because the economy is bad and I'm afraid I might at some time in the future lose my job.

I just don't see how you defend telling players to explore their options elsewhere if they can come in and help the institution where you currently work.
