Economic Upheaval Coming With Artificial Intelligence

Why are we worried about more mass surveillance? There is literally a camera everywhere you go that is connected to the NCIS database. Flock Solar cameras are everywhere now. We are rarely out of reach from cameras that can track us/know who we are.

The autonomous weapon needs to be created; because other countries will use the same type weapons as well. I think the world is cooked and we are all screwed.

I may be completely wrong about the above statement; but my best advice would be to ensure you are right with the lord and have your eternity sealed. It’s pretty much too late to ever return to a normal life. I think Covid was a planned event to rid the world of 40–60% of its population and the plan failed.

Future generations are in for a sad experience. The life that the NYC bums voted for will be what they will be living.

Someone's gonna need to explain this whole situation to me real slow and special... like I'm a 2nd grade, paste-eating, exceptional child. Because this whole situation makes exactly zero sense.

Hegseth: "You can't tell us what to do. You must allow us the ability to have autonomous weapons and mass surveillance if we want. Anthropic, you're fired. Now we have a beautiful new, big and better contract with OpenAI".

OpenAI: "Two of our most important safety principles are prohibitions on domestic mass surveillance and human responsibility for the use of force, including for autonomous weapon systems. The DoW agrees with these principles, reflects them in law and policy, and we put them into our agreement."
Just need to follow the money trail and you'll find out why the Trump admin does what it does. Its about money. Thats all.

There better be a real difference in terms, otherwise it looks like they killed their relationship with Anthropic (and deemed it a supply chain national security risk) just to swap in OpenAI which is full of Trump donors

Agreed. Odds are Anthropic will sue the government for targeting it... and if the govt's deal with OpenAI is basically identical, guessing they got a pretty good shot at prevailing.

AVs are a necessary 21st century defense system. Drones reduce the number of boots on the ground.

AVs receiving instructions from satellites are vulnerable to having the connection jammed.

AVs that are hard wired with a trailing optical cable have a limited range.

Therefore the most effective AV drones will be those that have the decision making code loaded onto their onboard computer systems. AI would be an important resource to update that onboard code. Also for those AV drones that are connected, AI would assist with the precision of the targeting.

Autonomous weapons will reduce collateral damage and troop casualties.

This stuff will be able to replace teachers in the classroom, it’s already being tested in warehouses to replace workers with robots, it will be able to perform surgeries…… there won’t be many limits to what it can do.
Surgical robots in their current form are smoke and mirrors. They are a tool in the toolbox. They make average surgeons better. They don’t do as much for great surgeons. They actually slow the good surgeon down. It will be interesting to see them advance though.

The future of AI and how quickly it is developing is spot on.

Today’s as bad as it’ll ever be.

What other products are you purchasing where how you use them is dictated to you by the company selling them?
Pretty much everything digital. internet, cell phones, cable, any subscriptions you have. even if you look at services as basic as farm equipment where the farmer doesn't have the right to repair the equipment themselves or use third party.

So there was backlash from OpenAI’s rushed, opportunistic deal with the Pentagon. I look forward to Hedgseth getting his ass sued by Anthropic.

BBC:

OpenAI to change deal with US military after backlash

But on Monday, Altman posted on X to say further changes were being made, including making sure its system would not be "intentionally used for domestic surveillance of U.S. persons and nationals".

As part of the new amendments, intelligence agencies such as the National Security Agency would also not be able to use OpenAI's system without a "follow-on modification" to the contract.

Altman added the company had made a mistake by rushing "to get this out on Friday".

what I don't get, is did the company not know the Pentagon was going to use their AI model for surveillance? I would assume that would have been written in the contract. If surveillance was in the contract tough crap for the company, even though I am personally against it. they signed a contract for it.

now if surveillance wasn't a listed function, assuming there were listed/agreed functions, then the company is the right to pull the contract after finding out.

if there were no agreed upon functions before hand, then its a grey area, but I lean towards both sides need to honor the contract.

It sounds like it is the first option, and this is just virtue signalling BECAUSE the public found out.

Ya it’ll be interesting what comes of it. I assume anthropic will sue
