Eat right, Run..bike..work out..swim..yoga..and die anyway. What’s your health and workout plan

Getting reacquainted with pedals: 4.47 miles, 284’ elevation gain, 29:56 riding time.

Decided to ride my bike to the post office, through my little burg with its myriad stops. Stayed in the lower gears. Seldom hit double digit mph. Going to make a couple of adjustments to the bike. It’s going to be a long road getting back into riding shape.

Cycling: 11.17 miles, 527’ elevation gain, 1:12 riding time. Short ride to check out the adjustments that I made to my bike. High 70s, 90% humidity, “moist” endeavor.

I've been on this split for a while now.

Monday: Run 3-4 miles
Tuesday: Arm workout
Wednesday: Run 4 miles
Thursday: Speed Workout with a lift (usually back and shoulders
Friday: walk the treadmill with inclines for at least 35 mins
Saturday: Long run (I've been getting ten miles for a while now but I would like to increase that.) Lift usually chest with a leg lift as well.
Sunday: Is wildcard. Could be a lift, or a HIIT or whatever I am feeling.

Meant to add... meal prep every Sunday for the week. Usually have lunches and dinners for the week. I use the 80/20 rule and it has allowed me to stay eating clean for over two years now probably closer to three. It has become such an obsession to me as far has eating clean and working out.

I found this app called "Yuka". You can scan food items with it and it will evaluate it for chemical additives and overall health benefits and create a score. It's pretty neat. I highly recommend it. There were things I was eating I had no idea were that bad for me that this app exposed.

That app has literally changed our lives for the better. While it seems like everything has some form of poison in it the food our kids were eating was the worst.

Other than my sourdough and milk as part of my daily breakfast I’m almost exclusively meat, fruits and veggies for everything else.

Can’t recommend that app enough!

You would be a runner! Honestly, this old man needs to start doing leg day again. On a GLP1 so I’m dropping weight and trying to maintain muscle and it’s just difficult to find time for back, shoulder, chest, full time employment, fatherhood, and I’m trying to do jujitsu twice a week

Here’s where the old dudes try to motivate each other.
Notice most of my work outs happen at 5-6am.

I’m also a BJJ black belt that has not trained it in ten years.
I’m sure I’m still dangerous for 25 seconds but at 56 years old I’m just shooting people that attack me now.

Thanks. I’m for sure a white belt. I’ve been to maybe 20 total classes, but I enjoy it. And my hatred of cardio (and my white belt explosive tendencies) start showing after a round or two.

What’s difficult is I’m trying to get back to a better weight (5’7 and 220 in PA school, down to 168 now because retratrutide is amazing). In doing so I’ve lost some strength and it messes with me psychologically (I’ve been a 450 bencher in my younger days, so it’s important to me).

I was lucky to find a place that does classes every morning from 6-7 so I don’t miss out on family time. But I need to get there more consistently

Well I’m in bad shape.
Can’t take time off and stay in shape View attachment 749578View attachment 749579

I haven’t ran since my early 20s and trying again now at 36 it’s almost impossible. Right knee pain and shin splints start immediately. I knew I was out of alignment but just found out I’ve got mild scoliosis and my right leg is a full inch shorter than my left.

I put the treadmill on steepest incline and walk for 30 mins to finish my lifting sessions.

Just had my first class ever. Was a lot of fun.

One thing that helped me was going to the old man shuffle when I run. Went to a clinic at the center for sports medicine and literally relearned how to run.

Inclined walking can be just as brutal as any running

I started running later than most, and I found that getting fit with good shoes for my flat, skinny, overpronating feet made a huge difference. Might give that a try.
