Wicked windstorm passed through Kingsport a bit after 3 PM. Distant thunder, no rain (yet.) I could hear limbs cracking in the woods. NOAA said gusts up to 20 mph (I think it was more than that) and 85 degrees; thank you, bc my Mom's heat pump went out today, bless her. We've been into triple digits on heat index lately.

I lost power for about a day and a half in Powell. Went and woke up the wife and told her to stay alert because the storm was getting serious. That was nuts.
Some of the photos from the storm show what looked like a massive funnel cloud. I wonder how close it was to producing a tornado.

Y'all want to talk about Fiona? What a BEAST. She is not slowing down at all. This girl is dangerous. If she can, she will. Just upgraded to cat2 status and nights do not slow her down. She is in unplayed with waters and very happy. I know she is SUPPOSED to be a fish storm, but the surface winds indicate there is a (very small) chance she tucks up under that, and winds up around the Bahamas or something. Just, don't underestimate this one.

This is a surface wind map overlay as night comes. Let's watch her over night.

Miami is a cat 3 major cane rated area. It has never been tested, but is probably the most hurricane rated town. The poles will survive, but what happens when a storm like this stalls over miami for 3 days at 120 mph winds?
