Started slow in TRI/Kingsport and surrounding area, but definitely picked up the pace. Coming down pretty good. We’ve got about 2.5 to 3” here where I live just a stones throw from the VA border. Looks like plenty more before midnight. The freezing rain has changed back into snow in Oak Ridge.
Sorry! Busy with work and family, and just haven't got on here much.I’m surprised I haven’t seen posts this morning about the storm. You all are usually all over it. Now that we’re about 24 hours from the start, has anything changed? Are we still thinking 4-6? I’m in West Knoxville so I’m curious about that area in particular. It seems like this is one it’s better to be West.
One more question, I haven’t seen any posts from @MetVol. Is Met still around? He (or she but I’m fairly sure he) was always very knowledgeable and I enjoyed the posts.
We basically got dry slotted. It dried out throughout the DGZ, so the snow crystals weren't forming and we were getting some fzra/fzdz for several hours. This really compacted the current snow cover, so snowfall measurements will be lower because of that compaction. The freezing rain has changed back into snow in Oak Ridge.
Still a very impactful winter storm. A few inches of snow and light ice has made the roads very difficult to travel. A truck is literally stuck on the hill outside of my home after trying to climb it.We basically got dry slotted.
