I don't know if ECU has the same QB this year that they had last year. If they do, then I see why they are ranked higher. He was an "athletic" quarterback, but didn't make any of the usual boneheaded mistakes that athletic quarterbacks normally make. Seemed to have a solid command of the offense in particular and the game in general.

This guy....not the other one.

Va Tech Chokies are the most over rated program in the country....FL 2nd string would beat them by 30.....All there fans talk about how great they are and how wonderful Lame Stadium is in Blacksburg but let them play in the SEC and they would be lucky to go .500.

Not true...they will play Alabama much closer than Clemson did

Preseason rankings are a joke. You can basicly hand a team a BCS spot or cost a team a BCS spot just because of what you think of them during the offseason due to talent level, schedule strength, and media bias (Notre Dame). Just wait till week 3 after everyone has played twice to make the first rankings that matter. Let magazines and writers do their own "top 25" lists to please fans, but the ones that actually matter should be held off until everyone has played games......It adds to the whole "The BCSl is corrupt" argument.

The ones that actually matter are the BCS rankings, and they don't come out until October/November.

Also, to the original poster, being below Rutgers without Teel and Britt would insult me much more than being below ECU right now.

Like duckman said, don't look into it too much. I think you guys are going to be better than most pundits think. My opinion, FWIW, I think UGA goes 6-6, 4-4 in conference and will be the surprise of the East. I think UT or USC will finish 2nd being the other surprise.

Mark Richt hasn't lost more than four games in a season since he arrived in 2001. No way they go 6-6. 9-3 at worst. They have a ton of talent and return by far the best O-line in the SEC.

I can do that too....I think UF goes 7-5 and UT goes 12-0.

Typically, you look at those who finish strong in the SEC. They all have a QB with experience behind his belt, right? UGA is going to be down... you don't lose talent like Knowshon and Stafford and expect to remain at your current level. UK might surprise a few times. Might. Vandy will be Vandy. USC's fate lies in Garcia. If he plays to his potential, they will be the surprise #2. Otherwise, You guys will be the #2 finish. This is my predicted finish of the SEC East:
1) Florida
2) USC/Tennessee
3) USC/Tennessee
4) UGA
5) UK/Vandy
6) UK/Vandy

Winner of the USC/Tennessee game gets the #2 nod.
Winner of Vandy vs UK gets 5th place finish.

Delusional...are you also a Gamecock fan? They have ZERO playmakers on offense and lost many of their greats on defense like Brinkley.

That's a total insult, to be ranked behind East Carolina! Hopefully, Kiffin puts this on the bulletin board.
