Early progress in Baghdad crackdown - Conflict in Iraq - MSNBC.com

BAGHDAD - Bomb deaths have gone down 30 percent in Baghdad since the U.S.-led security crackdown began a month ago. Execution-style slayings are down by nearly half.

The once frequent sound of weapons has been reduced to episodic, and downtown shoppers have returned to outdoor markets — favored targets of car bombers.
There are signs of progress in the campaign to restore order in Iraq, starting with its capital city.

Thoughts?

As long as Americans continue to die there there is no progress
I guess that means there was no progress made through the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the Great War, World War II, and the Korean War.

Korean War is a bad example......it's still going on. Over 50 years later and we let them go nuclear. Has there been any progress there?

Considering the 8th Army didn't get involved into half of ROK belonged the NKPA and we reestablished the DMZ at the 38th Parallel...I would say progress was made. I would not call it significant, although the opportunity was there, had Truman let MacArthur exploit it.

Of course it would...No Saddam=more opportunites. But I wouldn't weigh my opinion to much on polls.. I bet I could display a couple of polls that suggest otherwise.

Uh oh....another pathetic door-to-door poll. I wonder if it is as 'scientific' as the one from last year about the number of deaths.

Given the source, must really be like an average American city today.

True.

We aren't spending billions every month to police U.S. cities though.

What I really want to see is a cost/benefit ratio of this war.

Bilions of dollars to create a nation that is destined to be the greatest ally the country of Iran will ever have.
