Early Enrollees Can Sign Earlier

Said this yesterday.

If I was an EE I wouldn't commit to a school unless the papers were in the mail

Well this could start a fire storm, if you sign some and not others it could very well blow up the recruiting. Recruiters could tell players they wasn't good enough to get pre-signed.. they jump ship.

So it's not LOI that the students are signing. They're signing financial agreement which the school can't back away from, but the player can.

Come Feb if he wanted to, he could sign somewhere else.

This new rule works in favor of the recruit. Here is a snippet from the article.

He did not, in fact, sign a letter of intent. The differences are notable and fall in favor of the student-athlete.

LSU, after receiving Harris' paperwork, is now obligated to honor his scholarship, unlike the scenario for a traditional recruit who offers a non-binding verbal commitment; however, Harris is not tied to the Tigers. He could enroll elsewhere or sign a binding letter of intent with a different school in February.

Why would they not allow all of the EE to sign earlier if they were already verbally committed? Just a question.

The only thing for schools to lose by doing this is the ability to cut loose kids.

This doesn't bind the kid but remember this is only for EEs so getting hung out to dry on NSD isn't going to happen.

I love this rule and if a school isn't willing to do this then it should be a big red flag to the recruit

I don't think its a big deal if they didn't want to sign it early because the recruit isn't signing an LOI and they can still sign with another school.

I would love if all of our EE did this. Honestly, there is not one on our list that I would be hesitant about taking.
