I am pretty much done with EA. After their monopoly with the NCAA, NFL I have been pretty much done with them. No pressure to put out a superior product where there is not competition.

I dont see a problem with this. If you do choose to rent it, you can get a 7 day free pass to use to check out the online features. To me it is a smart move by EA to try to make it more attractive to buy it new. I also think that pirating has a little to do with this, not much different to me than last year with the teambuilder fee. I have also seen companies like THQ and others starting this same trend. It is what it is

Like everything else, its all about the benjamins baby

I dont see a problem with a company that is in the business to make money(bottom line) making a move to increase new sales. The arguement that EA just needs to put out a better quality product, really doesnt have anything to do with what they are doing with this online pass.

It does considering that I wont drop 60 bucks on a inferior product that I will only have to spend more money on it after I get home.

How do you figure its like last year Team Builder to me was stupid so i didnt need to buy it to play online. Last year i had an option this yr there forcing me to buy or just play offline. You and EA can never mind man as soon as i think there going in the right direction.

Well, i can't say that this hasnt been coming for some time, it sure sucks.

However, people will pay, and it will be the new standard for any online game over the next few years.

Yes i know this stupid but i dont want to give these idiots 320 bucks a year for 5 games. I think the 180 is enough and i can rent Fifa and Tiger to enjoy for a month through my Blockbuster pass.

Like I said, they have a 7 day free pass if you buy a game used or rent so that you can try out the online features. I do see why people would get upset with it, but I think that it has more to do with the flops that they have put out the last few years.

I see what you are saying with the rentals, especially if you have your plan at blockbuster where you can rent those games for a significant amount of time.

That is my real problem with it. This has a potential to spread like wildfire.

I agree, that the consumer(for the used game and rentals) having to pay an additional 10 doll hairs sucks, but.......we are talking about $10. Like I said, I think people being upset over this has more to do with the dissapointments that they have put out the last few years, and not living up to expectations.

the growing number of these plans likely is a big reason for the new plan by EA...i honestly can't blame them

I mean if the product gets better, I will have no problem spending $60 bucks on a new game. Until them I will not buy them or I will pick them up at the used store. I snagged a used copy of Madden '10 couple weeks ago for $15
