Question! How good was Dyron Nix compared to some other more Recent Vol payers? I was a kid when he played and really do not remember how good he was. Thanks in advance...

6'7" athletic scorer and rebounder. Dunked on a lot of people. In his senior season, he tried to be more of a 3 point shooter for the NBA. We haven't had that many guys as good as he was since then, especially at his position.

Yeah, he could really jump. He was from Florida. Somewhere on the panhandle I think. Dyron had pretty good sophomore and junior. Seems like he had worn kinda thin by his senior year...I guess DeVoe was his coach. For that era, he was one of the more athletic guys. I can't think of anyone on the current team to really compare him with. On a scale of 1-10, he was probably a 6 or 7 I guess.

Went to the Charlotte Hornets draft party when they drafted Dyron in the 2nd round. I was a trainer at the time and spent some time with he and Rex Chapman than evening after the party - great guy and one of the all time great dunkers in UT history. Wonder where he is today?

He he. :)

I went to UT basketball camp when Dyron played. He came by the camp one afternoon when most people were off doing something else. He put on a dunk show for those of us still in Stokley. I remember the Tomahawk and a dunk where he tried to grab hold of the side of the backboard with his free hand during the dunk.

Awesome guy. I was named after him.

And, Dyron was in attendance at the UT-UK game in Knoxville in 2010 I believe it was. He sat in the student section behind the basket.

Thats cool. I went to a Wade Houston camp one year. We spent an entire afternoon looking for Allen Houstons car keys, because he had lost them. It was only a 2 day camp too.

Wish I was at the camp with Dyron Nix instead of Allen Houston. lol
