Looking back it was Sampson and the defense who carried the Big Orange this year while Nico matured. Sampson belongs up there with Vol great RBs!!
Agree 100% even with the defense playing how it did most of the season I strongly feel we are an 8-4 team if Dylan Sampson wasn’t on this team. I believe there were maybe 2 games the O didn’t even wake until Dylan made something happen to strike a spark.

I thought he’d have a good year, but I couldn’t have anticipated this. I remember him being excited to be the guy and that was encouraging. As good as J Dub was last year, I would’ve been thrilled if you’d told me Sampson would match him, let alone eclipse him and break decades-old records.

I'm not sure I ever saw a player as good as he is at breaking tackles. Maybe Jamal Lewis, but IIRC, Jamal was not as consistent at breaking tackles. It seems Sampson almost always breaks at least the first tackle and often multiple tackles.

He was the difference in 8-4 and 10-2. Many people predicted us to be 8-4 because Nico would have some growing pains. Sampson carried the team during this time. Now, it seems that Nico feels pretty comfortable in the offense and against SEC competition, I like how the team is playing heading into the playoff.

Hard to believe Fumble Sampson has broken so many records at UT. Hopefully he’ll be healthy.

Granted as a Vol fan I've seen much more of Sampson than the others but I don't see anyone being able to make much of a substantive argument for anyone other than Jeanty having a better season and meaning more to their team.
