Duke say Cut is the man to beat

I've really been following this on search on a couple of Duke boards for the past week or so and one thing I can say is that the bulk of opinion seems to be that they are very excited at the proposition of getting Cutcliffe. If this is what he wants then I really hope it works out for him. He can go to a school where he will be genuinely appreciated and respected. Now if we can only get Phil to do the same...

Question is if Cut leaves, will who steps in. Will Phil go outside the staff? Give it to Troop? If Cut leaves that is the perverbial fork in the road for Fulmer. That decision will decide if he ends his career or if the University does.

Maybe Rut will take CPF and CJC w/ him to Puke U.

Cut is about to make career suicide - but I do wish him well. I hope he wins there but I can't see it happening.

Maybe Phil will bring in a creative guy who don't throw two yard outs on 3rd and 9.

This could be a good thing for UT but it could be bad b/c u never know who Phil will bring in.

One would think that in today's college football world, Fulmer would see it necessary to go after a big name OC but we all know he will just promote someone to that position. It would be very uncharacteristic for Fulmer to go outside and bring someone in.

I guess this coaching search has brought them out. They seem to be looking at this hire as a litmus test for how seriously the AD takes the football program.

what else does he have to prove at UT seriously? We all know he wants to be a head coach again and he's not getting any younger. Plus it will be a pay increase and after the year we just had with the staff getting cleaned out always lingering around...he's definetely gone if they offer him. There is no doubt in my mind.
