We absolutely NEED to hire a coach who's dream school is Tennessee.

We can't be another UCF, where Scott Frost went to his "dream school"

We can't be another Oregon, where Willie Taggert's "dream job" is FSU.

We hired Lane Kiffin who's "dream school" was USC. That's why he bolted.

You don't think Jeremy Pruitt's "Dream School" is Alabama?

So hire Phil back?

Tee or Steele are our options then.

Question: Would three to five years of a great coach getting us back to Atlanta, maybe even the CFP, whose dream job opens up and he leaves for it be better than hiring one of Tee or Kevin and having them go 6-6 for three years and get fired?

I would think Alabama might have options before Pruitt...

Pruitt is actually quite a safe bet to stay and a very good match for us.

YES. One thousand percent yes.

Sometimes success means important people leave to go elsewhere. But at that point, you're better positioned to make a good hire that can solidify your new status.

In the other scenario, we're back exactly here in 3-4 years. I'll pass.

Dabos dream school was Alabama.

Now...he has an Alabama of his own.

As far as coaching at Alabama...Nick Saban has 7 years left easily 😢.

If Pruitt turns Tennesse into a powerhouse again. He ain't going anywhere...

We need a coach who can build future coaches. We've not had that since Johnny Majors left. It's Fulmer's biggest failure.

That’s a pretty big IF there.

As much as I DON'T want a bammer for a HC( or any coach for that matter ) if they win,I don't care where they came from!

If Pruitt is successful at Tennessee he'll be first on the list...that's how that works.

He does such a good job here that Alabama wants him? Yeah, I'm good with that.

I just think it's a different circumstance when you have been an assistant within the program instead of jumping right into building your own program.

I'm really not sure how we can say this with any confidence. I mean, aside from the fact that it's a huge IF to begin with, we don't know that he would stay if Alabama opened up.

Thing is, that's a good problem to have. Even if he does leave, we'll be better positioned, and if we can actually conduct a proper coaching search (also a big IF, apparently), we can bring someone in to maintain our success.

Your question is flawed. You are giving the next coach TOO many years.

Kirby Smart is in the CFP within 2 years of coaching. Hypothetically lets say he's our head coach and Georgia just opens up.

Would he jump ship after making it to the CFP w/ Tennessee?

But we all know that Coaches keep the program around. Yeah, the coach would leave Tennessee in a great position to get a similar coach, but that next coach could drown us again... like Butch Jones.

Yep.

He rebuilds us, all except beating bammer, then goes back to bammer when saban retires.
