I didn't get past the first level due to it yelling great job or something lame like that every time I did something.

The first one was tough as nails... I liked it. Still haven't beaten the end boss.

yeah, the ending fight was a bit ridiculous. i got lucky and eventually beat him. if they were to change one thing in this game it should be the combat. i never was too crazy about how that whole system was set up.

Really, why? I think the combat was fine, in fact I think it's pretty well done especially with the tactic system. It's more of a traditional RPG. I guess if your playing on a console I could understand, but then again I probably wouldn't understand why you'd want to play it on console in the first place. If you haven't played in on PC I suggest you do that before you start wanting a change.

This was the one of the only games I could get into other that wasn't a sports game or total war game in the last decade. I definitely will be picking up the 2nd version.

I'll also add that when you get the hang of it (especially the tactic system), it's an easy game. I had to solo to make it a challenge. After that I reverted to mods to increase the difficulty. Here's a video I made soloing Flemeth using nothing but tactics (you can only get this to work on PC).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_LCQhO6Jww&feature=player_embedded

Here's a tip The most powerful spell in the game is Mana Clash. The formula for the damage is (50+spellpower)% of mana lost. So (using that character) if the target has 300 mana I would do over 900 damage.

i didn't like the fact that everything you did was pretty much on the fly. from what i remember, dragon age's combat system didn't let you set up your attacks in sequence with all your current party members. IMO, the fighting in these types of games should be like bioware had it set up in their KOTOR games since it gave you a chance to strategize better. just my 2 cents.

It would probably get frustrating doing it all on the fly. That's where tactics came in. You could set them up to do sequence events using that system. I was also using the advanced tactics mod that opens up more triggers that were already on the game just not unlocked for some reason. You should try it on PC. Is your PC capable of running it?

yeah, i didn't start to use tactics until very late in the game....and when i say late, i mean around the very last mission. even then, though, i wasn't too crazy about how it was set up. like i said in the original thread, i would have probably gotten more out of this game had i played it on the PC....but i've almost always been more of a console guy. i dabbled with PC gaming a few years ago but had trouble with it alot of the time because of spec issues. of course, the laptop i had back then probably wasn't that fit for gaming in the first place.

i'll probably end up playing dragon age 2 on the 360 again just because it's the safe route. i currently have a sony vaio with 4 gigs of ram and 260 gigs of hardrive space along with an intel HD graphics card. it could probably run it with low settings, but i still don't want to take any chances, especially since most laptops aren't the best for games like this anyway.

yeah, customized tactics are a must in this game- and learning them takes some time... after awhile, you learn that less is more in defining your parties actions (especially the healers's actions!)

I know I'll be getting this. Any good preorder deals now? I know last month you could preorder and get upgraded free to the limited edition but I never got around to it.

Well, I browse, and being such a good guy, they comp them for me. Kind of like Foxwood's gives me a free room for being a good guy after I piss away $800 on the ponies.
