Even with a win over the Gator's I think we will be a 2 seed. The committee usually has the seeding set by the final weekend and rarely changes it. I would love to get our first ever 1 seed but I am not going to hold my breath on it.

If the Vols win today and don't make it as a #1 seed, that's some serious ********.

If we win today that would give us a 3 win 2 loss record against the number one seeds if we don't get one. I will be just as happy to be the two in the region with Houston. We can win that one would be somewhat easier than the others.

“Tennessee is a great team. They play the right way.”

Asked to explain “right way,” Pearl said “It’s character, it’s culture. It’s their faith. It’s the men that are coaching them, great coaches and great men … When I say they play the right way, there are no issues. There’s no extracurricular. You understand how they play. You respect how they play. They respect how we play. That’s from their head coach.” Wow. High praise indeed from BP. And, the truth. Unfortunately what should and what will happen are 2 different things. If Tennessee wins today, they should get the 1 seed over UF. They will have head to head over UF up to this point, they will have won the conference championship which is by far the best conference in the land, and contains 4 of the best 6 or 7 teams in the country. You just can't over look that in my opinion.

Having said all of that, (1) we still gotta win today, and (2) even if we do, as we've seen in years past, the committee puts little value on the conference tournaments.

I maybe could understand that in certain situations like if you had a dominant team like AU for most of the season, lose like they did yesterday. They're still getting a 1. But when you have Us, UF, and Bama, all pretty even, all beating each other in the regular season, you have to have something that sets the teams apart. Why not let the conference tournament be just that and whoever wins gets the 1.

But you know, that'd make too much sense.

According to many supposed insiders who are talking about this, the answer is no.. That is not as far as Tn is concerned.

Setting Coach Barnes successes at Tn aside, imagine what BP and the Tn program might look like now. I for one think we should have stood by him.

To me, it’s such a simple proposition for the committee. If the bracket is already set, wouldn’t it be easy to flip UF/UT as the last 1 seed and first 2 seed??? I know there’s a bunch of different seeding rules, so I don’t know if it’s that easy.

I have been watching seeding and SEC tournament play for ten years. I have concluded it makes no difference.HOWEVER, I would love to see Tennessee beat Florida today (for a lot of reasons) to listen to them explain Tennessee as a 2 seed after it defeated two Number 1 seeds and one Number 2 seed in the last 2 weeks of the season. The committee would have to admit that the tournament results mean nothing. Any other explanation would be untenable!

We just need to win today and let the chips fall! And if we ... gulp were to lose ... it needs to be a competitive game because there is no doubt in my mind that a bad loss would be used against the team in the seeding.

The committee is more than likely hoping for a Florida win so they can justify giving the #1 seeds to who they want to give them too. It would make the narrative easier on their part given Auburn has lost 3 of their last four games and has lost the last three games against the other 3 in the top 4 of the SEC. Let that sink in, Auburn has lost to Florida, Alabama and Tennessee. Auburn also lost to Texas A&M who ended up # 5 in the final season rankings. So among the top 5 teams in the SEC - Auburn has lost at least once to ALL four of them and has a record of 2-4 against them.

I personally think the talk of a battle for the last #1 seed was really around Florida and Bama because the committee really wanted an Auburn vs Alabama repeat in the championship game.

Many on here will say it should be about the entire season - well the ENTIRE SEASON includes ALL games including games in the conference championship. And it is no longer a round robin conference schedule where all the teams play each other twice.

According to someone on here, Bubba Cunningham said yesterday six teams were in the running for the four #1 seeds. Alabama lost, so now it’s down to five, including us.

My hope is that the UK loses the first round of the NCAA tournament and that their fans will have to sell the final four tickets they purchased in advance to us.

The one good thing about winning vs Auburn is that Bruce would undoubtedly sing our praises. Hopefully the committee picks up on that if we win today

It would be very easy for the committee. Winner gets the one slot and loser gets the two. That way the committee doesn’t have to wait for game to even do the bracket.

This.

It’s horse 💩 but most likely the outcome. I hope the Vols find a way to win to force the committee to explain. A TN loss enables the committee to hide.

Learn from the past. It has never made any difference and it won't this time. We have the 2 seed. Win this game for the right reason. You wanna be champs. That's reason enough.
