Give him a chance! Whats the worst he could do? Lose a game? Not like we haven't done that this year.

Cutty liked him !

I also heard that there was a bad "crack" problem at Clemson!

Our best RB had that problem. Travis Henry and Stephens. He may do well there then!!

Please, guys: Don't listen to Barnhart. Yea, he's covered SEC football for a long time--but he's DUMB--not a very perceptive man. He asks if Leach would fit "Tennessee's culture." Apparently, he doesn't know much about the SEC after all: There is only one culture in the SEC--WIN Games! Did Spurrier fit florida's "culture" when he arrived and started winging the ball around? I think Gator fans and alums were pretty happy with him--and with Myer the Cryer now. Leach is another Spurrier, as far as I can tell. It's all about winning --nothing else matters.

Spurrier was a former Heisman trophy winner as a player at Florida....so, yeah, I'd say he "fit Florida's culture" just fine.

Comparing his return to Florida and Leach's possible hire at Tennessee, not the best analogy my man.

Any discussions of conversations between Fulmer and any D1 program have to have happened prior to Saturday's trainwreck. I assume that any such discussions summarily ended with that little disaster.

i dont care about a long tem coach at all.. we just need a coach that will do good things for us in 09 and 2010.. Butch davis will do us good in those two years.. if he wants to retire after those two years, then so be it.. we will at least be in a better situation than we are right now..

Doug's got that reversed. Fulmer contacted Clemson about the job.

I would trust Doug's statement. He's typically in the know if he makes a statement, and he's not one to typically lie.

I didn't hear the statement, but if he said it as posted on here, I would believe it.

I doubt it. Most will attribute last Saturday as well as the next two games to a "lame duck" status and not hold it against him too much. Although he's not right for UT now, his resume will get him looks from D1 schools whenever he's ready provided he doesn't stay away too long.

Then most are stupid. He was 3-6 prior to the lame duck status.

It would be easier to trust if he wasn't so emotionally invested in the issue.

I've heard Fulmer mentioned for UCF. Not a bad choice for them. He would boost their recuiting a ton and get them some national attention.

I don't think he is a fit for any of the top 50 schools, but there is a place if he still wants to coach. Does he own any clothes that aren't orange.

I doubt Matthews deliberately misrepresented the truth here...he's probably just regurgitating what Fulmer told him.

But, Clemson didn't reach out to Fulmer...Fulmer reached out to them.

And what was he prior to this 3-6. I'm not saying he shouldn't have been fired, but he has a good enough past that D1 schools will look at his overall resume rathe than his last season. When you look at Fulmer's resume this way, it can be very attractive.

Any AD that looks beyond the past 5 years in making a decision is begging to be fired.

I hear you, but he admits this and does not hide his closeness to Fulmer. He is more level headed and not one to make false statements out of spite. He has even made statements that it was probably the correct business decision for UT, but that he selfishly wishes they would have given him 1 more year to fix it.

I doubt Mathews makes that statement without having a source other than Fulmer. Mathews has quite a few contacts within college football. I don't know you Jaytrain, and you may have many contacts as well. With that said, I'll take Mathews's statement due to his reliability in the past over your unknown prediction.

And the past 5 years is not "Bad" on Fulmer's resume. He went to the SEC championship game last year. We as UT fans understand the seasons and do not consider ones such as last a big success, but they do look good on paper and agents will spin them as such.

any agent that can spin that well has already retired richer than the Sultan of Brunei.
