The talent Jones had covered for a lot of his shortcomings, Jones also had the benefit of 2 legacy classes. He had enough talent he should have had Tennessee in Atlanta at least twice. Dooley was leaps and bounds better than Jones on game day he just couldn't get the talent here.

Never claimed Dooley was a great coach but he was a better coach than Jones from an x's and o's stand point. Jones didn't and still doesn't have a clue. Also when Dooley was here the SEC East was much much better with USC, Georgia, Florida all running things. In Dooley's final year all 3 of those schools mentioned finished with 11 or more wins. In 2015 and 2016 Jones should have boat raced the East and failed to do so with talent because of mismanagement reference the 2015 OU, Florida and Arkansas game 2016 reference A&M, South Carolina, Vandy.

Saban and Belicheck would not have succeed here after what Kiffin did to the roster. Many UT fans just do not get that regardless of if he is good or not, no one was going to win here at that time.

Fulmer- Great coach but it was time

Kiffin- few will admit it but it was amazing what he did with that 2009 roster with starting the Sullins twins. Kiffin destroyed this program by losing or running off 45+ players and recruits. Recruits from a top 5 ranked class that saw many go to the NFL....for other schools. Plus virtually all on that offensive line played in the NFL.

Dooley- Was actually a good game day coach but he just didn't have it Sunday - Friday. Had no chance after the firing of a legend and Kiffin destroying the program.

Jones- horrible coach, he was probably the worst over the last 15 years from a football standpoint. The guy didn't have a damn clue. Maybe. But he was by far the best you could get at the time after the way they treated a legend and Kiffin destroying the program.

Pruitt- Who knows but the clock has started after that Vandy disaster
