Doug Matthews comments y'day on AD Search

My goodness...if you look at the Michigan roster when Harbaugh got there compared to ours when Butch get here, it isn't even close. But keep putting your head in the sand and typing garbage.

Truer words were never written IMO. Why? Harbaugh loses 18 starters off his 2016 roster to begin his 2017 season.

The AD search is taking so long because Beverly Davenport is still in Cincinnati. And as our first female chancellor, she is going to do her due diligence and interview each applicant personally to try and steer UTK away from the Title IX mess. Her priorities are not yours. Far fetched? Try full of 5h1t.

The thing is that it's not her decision. The President makes the ultimate call, although it would probably create a stir if he didn't give a new Chancellor some deference. It seems like this would've been a perfect time to restore the wall between the UTKAD and the UTK Chancellor, making both answerable only to the system President. It takes the AD out of faculty politics and allows for expediency when necessary.

That's not accurate. The athletics director is a direct report to the chancellor. She is ultimately the one that will make the call, with consultation from the president, the search committee, and others.

Maybe Larry can clarify, but it was my understanding that the President has to sign off on the hire.

So I missed his show this morning...anything interesting?

He laid out a metaphor about building a house and consulting all available builders even if you know some really good builders. The short version is that the incoming Chancellor wants it to go down the way it is going. He said, without stating names, that he believes it will be Blackburn or Fulmer and that the President/Governor/BOT are not going to allow the new Chancellor to make a hire that will get her tenure off on the wrong foot.

Harbaugh doesn't have to look at a chart to know when to kick a field goal or ask an assistant coach to tell his DB's to turn around and look for a ball.

Harbaugh has gone 10-3 each of his first two years. Butch went 5-7 and 7-6. Jim also inherited a 5-7 team. I'd pay $9 million and go 10-3 for Butch's first two years after going 5-7. The future looks good for UM. We've hit our ceiling.

It will be interesting to see how Harbaugh does after losing 15 starters.
