Doug Matthews Blunt Take On Vols Loss

He goes off on a lot of what the fans have pointed out. Calls some folks out directly and never has been that critical before. He’s really upset about Saturday as most of us are. Some believe it’s a narrative set up by Fulmer to lay the ground work for the nxt man

Knowing how political Fulmer is, there’s a very strong chance this is accurate. Even Ainge was more harsh in his radio assessments the other day. I’d have to imagine Fulmer has a contingency plan. No way in heck is a fan of Pruitt’s at this point, especially after CJP’s less than enthusiastic answer to Vol traditions last year. That was probably a real eye opener for a lot of people.

I think Chaney is a good contingency to step in as needed. He's done it before.

Phil Fulmer definitely has to be thinking of future probabilities

Matthews is saying publicly what Fulmer is thinking privately. If things don't turn around soon, you will see stories come out soon about how Fulmer was handcuffed with the 2017 coaching search. (And you will see fluff pieces about basketball success, the KJH hire, the improved LV soccer/volleyball teams, and baseball turning it around as "successes" from the Fulmer AD tenure)

No, I do not believe Phil is angling to get his HC job back but he'd been dumb if he's not thinking of contingencies for hiring the next coach....

No one knows Fulmer’s and Pruitt’s relationship but ... Fulmer and Pruitt.

IF the goal was to do a two step, he would have hired Les Miles.

Pruitt isn’t stupid. He probably knew exactly the state of the team when he hired and it’s a 4 year rebuild. UT needs someone who can refit and entire team.

Paul Johnson from Georgia Tech is available and was in the Top 10 rushing every year. But could he kick kids off the team? No. Too nice.

It’s Pruitt for 4 years. No other option.

Hugh Freeze. Know there's some baggage but big enough name with a modest price tag.

I've thought he would be our next HC even before Saturday. Not advocating for it. Just a thought of potential name.

I think Clark at UAB might be another candidate
