He will probably be fired by Jacksonville this year and he's said Tennessee is his ultimate dream job. He has a relationship with Fulmer.

After Lane, Dooley, Butch and Pruitt, following up with a fired coach...

Wow

The stupidity of some posters on here is astounding. NFL coaches are fired all the time. Bill Bilicheck was a fired NFL coach as well. He won the Big East at Syracuse and nearly took Jacksonville to the Super Bowl

So what successful, sitting head coach do you suggest UT hire? You think Stoops or Urban would actually take this job? We've already been turned down by Gundy(at least twice), Patterson, Gruden, Mullen, and probably several I'm forgetting.

Or maybe I could put it another way. Given we're still on the hook to Butch and his staff and perhaps Dooley(I'm not sure he's paid off yet), and we're going to be facing over $16 mil in buyouts for Pruitt and his staff, who could we afford to hire as a replacement?

I'll hang up and listen.

Honestly OP I don’t know him. Fill me in. Who is this guy and what’s his specialty? Convince me. I admit when I’m ignorant on a topic and I truly don’t know this guy. Help me out.

The stupid of some posters is astounding. There are tons of examples of coordinators with no previous experience as a head coach became great head coaches...

See what I did there? You can because you’re bright.

My point is UT needs to shell out and get a coach that instantly pumps the fan base up. Not someone the average fan has never heard of PLUS just got fired. See how that doesn’t create a headline on ESPN that’s “cool” and “eye catching?” You can...you’re bright.

And don’t tell me “we don’t need flashy we need a good coach.” 🙄

I never mentioned timing. So your entire post doesn’t matter.

I’m an average fan and I would line up for tickets if we hired Marrone.

What is your point? He has been a successful head coach at a terrible football school and the NFL. Did you have one in that rambling response?

He's a good coach and his style of coaching is more effective in college than in the pros.

But I doubt he gets fired. His 6th round pick QB has a really alistic chance to win ROY. If they win 6 games and have their QB of the future he won't get fired.
