Gottlieb said "I don't think Pearl cheated, he lied. I think it's a stupid rule."

On Hamilton: "He's been an absolute disaster [Rips Kiffin, Dooley, and Raleigh, then revealing of Pearl's job 'security' two days before game"

On Dooley "No one really believes in him. They may have turned the corner at the end of the season but no one is in love with the hire."

Gottleib has a funny definition of cheating.

Eh. CBP mildly cheated. It's like carrying the ball before half court with no pressure. Doesn't really hurt anybody or have that much of an effect. Or a center moving the ball 6 inches in front of the line of scrimmage before the snap.

If Bray throws for 30 touchdowns this year and we go 10-2 we will love Dooley who is this **** head kidding!

Doug's just glad he can apply for his own credit cards now

Gottlieb is an idiot. Not only are these comments ignorant, but he's just a bad analyst. Plus hes obsessed with the big 12. Pretty sure he was the only one claiming Texas should have been a 1 seed.

so why in the world if confronted with incontrovertible evidence that you committee a minor violation could you insult everbodys intelligence and lie about it?

Gottlieb is defending his friend Bruce, but he basically needs to shut the *bleep* up.

Except that it could result in major infractions for the school and BP was fired as well as all the assistants.

It's more like punching a guy in the onions and hoping nobody sees it so you don't get ejected from the game and suspended for multiple games.

Question of the day. No idea. Doesn't make sense. It seems over blown IMO. The entire situation has puzzled me all season. It always seemed the NCAAs ego is on the line. Like a "how dare you lie to the top". For example; how can you turn a minor bump into a major? It's like turning a handicap parking violation into a felony. Kinda ridiculous.

The lying made it "major" otherwise we wouldn't be talking about this.

hey Gottlieb before you make the next comment can you answer your cell phone since it is ringing during your 30 sec television spot on sportscenter.

if you want to know why he is so angry, imagine you are average borderline at your job, now imagine that you only have this job for exactly 6 months. Once April comes in you notice your bank account doesnt have a deposit in it, and that continues until the end of sept. Now you have to learn how to budget, strecth money, and not get the kind of paycheck that all your peers get at your job. I would be angry as well, renting a 2 bedroom apt with my wife and kid instead of buying a house in Milford, CT.

The NCAA has no subpoena power, a tiny handful of investigators, and hundreds of schools to police. Deliberately misleading them/lying to investigators/falsifying information/whatever you want to call it has to be pretty much a capital offense, because they have nowhere near enough resources to meaningfully fulfill their mission. It's too easy to lie to the NCAA and the likelihood of getting caught is generally so small that in order for there to be any kind of deterrent, they have to punish it brutally. Same strategy as the IRS except that the NCAA doesn't have the hammer of the law behind them.

Outside of the ESPN family of networks, the biggest clown award (IMO) goes to the dynamic duo, the wonder twins: Gary "I Love Tebow" Danielson and Verne "I'd Forget My Name If It Wasn't Written In My Underwear" Lundquist.
