Thought I would let you guys in on some of the passion Dooley belted out to the Freshman Class of 2015 at the annual Night in Neyland this year during Welcome Week this past week.

I had seen him speak about UT football and what it means to older people, or in interviews... But if you wouldve been there last week, Dooley surprised everyone and came out and spoke to the entire freshman class and I havent seen him anywhere near as passionate as he was.

He told us that we have the opportunity to watch our team in "the greatest college football venue in the entire country"... went on to say, "Think about some of this history here: 6 national championships, 13 SEC titles, 49 bowl games, 89 all-americans, (some number) 1st round draft picks, and 24 HOFamers... but the best thing about this stadium, is the FANS." After that i couldnt really hear but he continued to talk about how 70% of our roster is made up of players in our grade and sophomores and he promised us that we will return back to where Tennessee belongs. Then he told us he had to get back to the office and put in some more work, so he left and went back to the offices as we chanted DEREK DOOLEY.

I felt like we were 5* recruits and he was selling us hard. This guy loves our school, and just wanted to let everyone know that, because this guy is no Kiffin. This is where he wants to be and this is where he wants to leave a legacy. :good!:

yeah man and i think that night was right after we picked up Crawley.. then the next day we got McNiel and then Croom. He took time out of his day to speak to us, then he went back to the offices and continued to lock up three 4*s within a weeks span.

Yes it is Six NCs. 1938,1940,1950,1951,1967,1998. Now these have been calculated using the Alabubba NC formula.

I was a commando under coach Lassiter and coach hatfield was my LB coach until moved away. Glad to see that this program is so strong. Hatfield was my favorite. Not a fan of lassiter

Yeah he took us to the state championship for the 3rd time in 12 years, and still didnt bring it home. If any high school coach deserves a gold ball, its Coach Hatfield.

They used to pick the national champions before the bowl games.

wondering how you can be a UT fan and not know the number of national titles we claim...it is in the practice facilities, neyland stadium, and is just common knowledge for anyone over the age of 3 who claims to be a Tennessee fan...maybe you should stay in west virginia and count those national titles

I'm pretty sure that the national champion was crowned after the regular season, before the bowl games. It was changed maybe in the late 50's /early 60's after those first few championship years.

The NCAA recognizes 2 (1951 and 1998). We were selected by a majority of the polls in 1938 and 1950, so those have some credence to them. 1967 is a garbage claim imo.

And the fact that we weren't selected in 1939 (the unscored upon season) is utter bs.

1967 was a make up for '39.

He ruined it by redeeming himself. Had he not done that, we would be enjoying an epic roast! :)

Thanks for the OP, liked it very much.

Appreciate it man. Lets just give him a lil time. He sounds 100% committed to taking us to the top IMO
