...it's on the line (stupidly, IMO) against Missouri in Neyland, especially if he's already lost to Mississippi State.

Missouri is rather quickly being seen as an average team that's a bit over their head in an SEC schedule. They couldn't hang with Georgia for 60 minutes at home (unlike Tennessee did on the road), got whipped by South Carolina, and struggled/came from behind to beat UCF today.

If Tennessee cannot beat them at home, there will be serious calls for Dooley to go.

If we lose to Miss St. (Which we shouldn't), this game won't carry much weight if we win. If we were to lose this game, I think they'd hold a presser the following Monday.

Missouri will not save or end Dooley's tenure at UTK. The deal this season was win the games you're supposed to win and pull a significant upset. Losing to UF put him behind the 8-ball because nobody expected UF to be as good as they are this season. You could almost see it on Dooley's face tonight after the interception that he knows he's done for here. If you love DD at UTK you better pray that USC beats KY and then the Vols beat the Cocks. Otherwise, Bama is going to be do or die.

We win against Miss ST and USCe and take care of the last 4 games like we should and we will finish 9-3. Which will be a very successful season in my eyes and will give Dooley another year at least. I am confident that this team can do this. Bray needs to lead this team and prove to himself more then anything that he can win big time football games. He is talented enough to do this.

Even if Dooley wins 8 games this season, I think his job was lost today....unless he can miraculously beat Bama.

That's insane. They'd fire Dooley after putting together by far his best season? Really? After barely losing to #5 in the country on the road?

They were gifted 21 points and still lost. He has 0 signature wins. Name one win you can hang your hat on in 3 f-ing years! This is a team good enough to steal a win from Florida, UGA, or Bama, but it won't.

In 3 years Dooley has shown us all he can do is recruit.

Nope, Dools earned another year today

Negavols will bash, but I agree. This team is getting closer. Georgia is a better team than Florida. We gave up against Florida. The men that played for Tennessee did not give in. They did not give up. They showed improvement in all games this year. This Defense looks similar to Georgia's Two years ago, still learning. If you were to look at Georgias state crop full of high profile prospects, & the fact that Tenessee does not have a rich base of recruiting talent, we sure hung around the #5 team in the country after all that fate has given us, we are closing the gap.

Tennessee isn't good enough to steal a win from Alabama or Georgia. Tennessee isn't even good enough to take a win from Georgia when Georgia hands it to them (the 21 gift points you mentioned). They probably are talented enough to beat Florida in Knoxville, but they couldn't hang with them for 60 minutes.

There have been coaches fired before in situations like Dooley's who have "signature wins."

What's the deal? Dooley hasn't won a big game yet, so fire him. A player screws up and the reaction is can him we didn't want him anyway. Take a serious look at what we have been through the last 4 years! I don't know if Dooley can get it done or not, but he hasn't had the time to prove yes or no. We need some stability to at least truly restock even if Dooley isn't the coach, but this year isn't the time to decide that. Support our TEAM and let this season play out. Next year is the real showtime. It takes a year or more for the 3-4 to get it down and that's just the facts. Patience isn't a virtue for fans and I get that. But you gotta keep it real! GBO

Interesting. One more year after a loss.

Fulmer beat UGA like 4 of his last 6 years, and I think UGA was favored every time. You have to be able to beat UGA.

Dooley will finish his 3rd season 0-12 vs Bama, UGA, Florida, and SC. He is 4-14 vs the SEC. I hope he beats SC and I am proved wrong, but that seems unlikely.

I agree. The obnoxiously clingy on Dooley crowd does not seem to understand that the hot seat stuff affects recruiting and recruiting is where most of these games are won and lost. 8-4 with no big upsets does not change the hot seat talk next year and with a tougher schedule on tap coupled with the likelihood of losing some key juniors Dooley will not survive next season without some immediate impact recruits and banking some equity this year. It's pretty much over at this point.

But the burning question is, will this season yield his 3rd victory out of 31 against teams with winning records?
