It was suggested by Clay, Brent & Blaine, and to a lesser extent inferred by MH, during his interview on 104.5 that CDD was instrumental in the decision to drop UNC.

If this is true, shame on you Dooley. I realize that the situation on the hill is not ideal but you knew that going in.

UT football gets yet another proverbial kick to the groin with this move only this time its not the players embarrassing themselves and the university, its our own AD and HC.

I've stood up for CDD a ton, but (again) if this is true, I won't--he deserves to be called out for this.

Well Duh? Were you really thinking that it was Hamilton's idea?

Yes. Yes I was. Maybe its naivete or my optimistic nature but yeah--thought this was all MH.

There's no way that Dooley isn't at least 50 percent responsible for this move. The AD does what the coach wants; the coach stands up there and shrugs his shoulders and says, "Aw shucks, I'm just the football coach. I ain't got nothing to do with that." It's always BS.

Sorry for repeating myself in 2 threads, but Hamilton claims that he has wanted the game moved since at least 2008 fwiw.

I'm actually gonna go in reverse here and say kudos to Dooley for having some nuts to go through with what Fulmer and Kiffin were wanting to do for awhile. Doubt Dooley will nix Oklahoma...and Ohio State...and Oregon...and Nebraska...etc. He's just looking out for the program's best interests.

My ex girlfriend was from Lebanon, by the way. She was insane.

If DD was afraid to roll into North Carolina, he crap his pants next year when they pull into Tuscaloosa.

Your Hamilton Bfast thread was good satire. I don’t know why it was axed. I PMed Freak who said that he would look into it.

Yea I don't see this as a big deal. I hate all this out of conference play, I mean I know its necessary to an extent, but the less the better. The whole UCLA thing the past couple of years really bugged me.

Why would it surprise you? The one thing that UT fans have always bragged about to other SEC teams about is our scheduling. We play anybody; we play all over the country. See any of the thousand threads on here about Florida and Georgia's scheduling. Hamilton's basically cutting the balls off anybody who's ever made that argument.

I'm mostly livid because I have some good friends who are UNC alums, and not only do I lose two great trips going to the games with them, but now I will never ever ever ever ever hear the end of it. All because we're chickening out on what should have been a highly winnable game next year.

I don't think anyone would have had a streak of 5 games like

Florida
North Carolina
Georgia
LSU
Alabama

NC wouldn't move the series back so we get out. Big Deal

C'mon guys...I think he deserves a season before we criticize anything he does. For the most part, this forum has a good idea about the reasoning behind certain moves due to inside information. However, on this topic we have no idea why he would or even if he did. I think this is much to do over nothing.

If true, it just goes to show all of you kool-aid drinkers that the head coach knows that we're going to be taking a lot of beatings in the near future.

Should anyone have been surprised that this would be a tough stretch? 3 of those teams have won national titles in the last 5 or so years. The SEC schools have been very good for greater than the last decade.

So the reason you're crying is because of friends and trips in N C? Tell your friends to suck it and go to Asheville and the Outer Banks on two separate trips. Problems solved.

I'm just glad our coach and players are not that narcissistic.

So the posters are not able to lay their manhood out on the counter with their fellow UNC fans in 2011 and 2012 and have a "who's got the biggest salami contest". Big deal.

This move is all about helping build our program back up from the ash heap that Fulmer created when he crashed the program into the ground before he was fired. It is undoubtedly already one of the toughest schedules in the nation if not the toughest. This move gives our guys a breather, when they will really need it. It also brings in a few extra million to the UTAD football coffers and into the pockets of Knoxville businesses with the addition of another home game.
