Dooley on " Star Gazers & Scholarship #'s "....

Reporters kept talking to him about the depth issues & this is what Dooley had to say.

"I'm not saying, 'Oh, poor me.' I'm happy to be here. I'd rather be here with 72 (scholarship players) than about anywhere."

He also went on to say that their losing 14 Seniors this year, & a program will usually lose 4-5 more in the offseason. He said it will talk a few recruiting classes to get the numbers back to where they need to be.

A reporter also asked him whats the huge difference between having 85 scholarship players to only having 70, Dooley responded with:

" Look at it this way, you have 4 more DB's, 4 more DL, 3 more WR's, & about 4 more OL. Think essentially almost a whole other signing class. You know ya'll (meaning fans & reporters) like the "stars" right!? That's how you (reporters evaluate guys, based on "stars". Our average star would be what?! 3.6?! Over time. I dont even know what they are (star rating). If you added 10 more 3 "Stars" & 5 more 4 "Stars" you know?! I mean it's pointless to even talk about cause it is what it is. I'm not worrying about what we dont have "

Did you see the look on Dooley's face for a split second when the girl yelled out "walk-ons"? Not sure who the hell she was, but she kept chimming in with ignorant comments and questions towards the end of the interview. It may have been the same girl asking Matt all the stupid questions as well. VERY ANNOYING!

Dooley did look pretty stressed after the scrimmage!

I know I maybe reading to much into this, but with all the recent transactions in Vol country, what do you all think about his statement, "I'd rather be here with 72 than ABOUT anywhere." Whereelse would you think he would want to be?

That's because he knows we don't stack up well with our opponents and that he'll have to coach his ass off to even be here in three years. That and the Knoxville media is notoriously full of morons.

Its no secret that being the head FB coach @ Al or UF right now would be a better/easier employment than UT. He isnt/wasnt getting those jobs. He was making the point that even in our current situation, WE ARE STILL TOP15 in jobs.

With his supporting staff there is no question he will be here longer than 3 years.

Coaching the Green Bay Packers, Coach Dooley is a huge Packers fan.

I look forward to the season win or loose! i look forward to watching the freshman grow and become great players in the future. I look forward to the upset game that will happen, (Hopefully Fla) I just hope that dooley is not to conservative with the play calling. AKA Afraid to loose... you know 3 yard bubble screen on 3rd and 10 i hate that let'em play...

Reminds me of when I was at Ray's when Dooley had his opening statement and a random said "Count down till he leaves for Georgia." I wanted to show him what the five fingers said to the face. It may not be the best situation he came into, but I'm sure he knows that this was his chance. If he pulls off the magic I think he will be here for a while. No need to live in your father's shadow.
