Former Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley is officially getting into politics. The failed college football coach is running for a Senate seat in the state of Georgia.

Dooley is running as a Republican and is looking to unseat Democrat Jon Ossof who has served in the Senate since 2021. The 57-year old Dooley will have plenty of competition in the Republican Primary before potentially facing off with Ossof in the November 2027 election.

The son of legendary Georgia football coach Vince Dooley, Derek Dooley is considering a run as a Republican against the incumbent Democrat Jon Ossoff. The Georgia Senate seat is expected to be one of the most hotly contested elections in the 2026 midterm.

The answer to my last scribe.If Doolittle and Tuberville are together,a do nothing and ignorant congress is assured.Dooley could not even count how many players he had on the field against LSU.Used to be,if you were good at nothing you tried car sales.Now it's congress.

I would love a do-nothing congress, things would be far better with that than a government that thinks it solve everything and has its hand in all facets of life.


Bruce Pearl rumored to be heading that way direction also.

I just can’t see Pearl leaving what he has at Auburn to run for senate. Tuberville had been retired for a while, and Dooley hasn’t had a consistent job since 2019, but Pearl is fresh off a final four and is clearly preparing for another season at Auburn.

Crazier things have happened, but it just feels like a huge stretch.

I'm surprised Tubby is leaving the Senate to run for Alabama governor. Isn't that a step down? Does he fear the GOP would attempt to primary him next year? It isn't like he's disliked by the party.

In a state like Bama I’d say it’s kind of a step down. Maybe he wants to be the executive

It definitely is. Really a questionable move from him to go for governor. But it’s not like he’s ever been all that smart.

Then again, he’d be 80 at the end of his second term, and that’s became the prime age to be president. So maybe that’s the plan?

It is a big step down in my opinion. Senators and their spouses are treated like royalty in DC.

not until he turns 80. So we may see him go for it in 2036.

In all seriousness, I can see him trying for it, maybe. But I feel like staying as senator would be a lot more helpful for him if that’s his goal. I doubt he’d get far in a primary either way, though.

Rommel was not in Normandy that day. He was in Germany to see his wife on her birthday. Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt was in charge.

And the Germans were pretty much just causing casualties at the beginning. The force of numbers and better tactics finally won that battle. But at a very dear and high cost.

Yes, that's why his where's Rommel is spot on. It wouldn't have changed the outcome but IMO had Rommel been in Normandy a lot more American's would have died in the first 72 hours and probably the first couple of weeks.
