Dooley is going strong and I think he is going to pull a better class than we were expecting. The future is bright. Even better he is not proclaiming his greatness as the Ultimate Recruiter. He has his head down and grinding.

Go Dooley Go. TCB DOOLEY TCB!!!!!!

For the amount of time, and given the circumstances CDD is hitting a home run in my world

Im positive too but remember recruiting is easier when the depth chart is thin. We'll see if he can take it to the the next level in due time.

I too think CDD is on the right path, I'm excited about the future of Tennessee Football. I think his humble nature and great attitude are what we needed at Tennessee. If my kid was being offered by CDD and X, I would much rather see him play for CDD. (Even before X did the thing he did.)

I have been very impressed. Of course signing day will tell for sure. I was just hoping beyond hope for a top 15 class. Looks like he might have pulled a rabbit out of the hat on this one.

...Not A Legend In His Own Mind

My guess is you are referring to Kiffin by this statement.

Far be it for me to defend that -stain, but the one thing at which he has proven to be competent is recruiting. He and Orgeron have shown themselves to be middling to inferior game managers at best, but they have definitely brought in elite athletes at each collegiate stop.

Dooley is doing a commendable job, especially given the circumstances, but let's reserve great praise until after the season, as, let's be honest, he is as unproven a HC as Kiffipoo.

While Dooley has gotten some recruits to commit, the one area we need the most help with is O linemen. If we are going to field a team we must address this glaring situation or the best QB, RB and WR's will not matter.

hey Im a skeptic... drank the Kool Aid last year... I quit sweating the hourly reports going on and have taken a wait and see approach... So far Ive been impressed. Only thing that pops up is another good recruit committing to the VOLS... I think we are in good shape depending on how the coaching staff shakes out.

the fat lady doesn't sing until next week, but so far given the circumstances he has outdone the carpetbagger.

it will be exciting to see what he can do with a full staff and full season.

He is doing a good job, not suprising from the sabanite. I believe he is going to be a good coach. He is salvaging what he can. Problem right now is that the class is still thin at two areas of concern, oline and dtackle. We should have taken four or five oline last year and ended up way short(did we even get one last year? I don't think so). So we needed a big haul this year which probably won't even help this year (how many successful true frosh olineman have you seen succeed in the sec?) but will build for 2012, maybe 2011 if we are lucky.
While CDd is doing a good job, these guys were not our no. 1 or even no. 3 choices. They are guys who have potential and could be very good, but have way more question marks than the guys Florida or alabama or auburn or georgia are taking. Hey, we've got plenty of scholarships to take a chance on some projects. We better cheer CDs on right now, he's fighting for our ability to survive the next two years.

I'm really wanting DD to do well. He is very intelligent and seems to have some class. He came in at a bad time, one of our worst, and has responded by giving us a glimmer of hope (by salvaging this recruiting class). I need that kind of coach after our last encounter. The proof, of course, will ultimately be in the pudding (which is served on Saturdays).

At the risk of being bashed by the "posting police" for not having 1000 posts or a neat avatar (and I do love those), I wanted to weigh in to the discussion. I'm an old Vol - Neyland Scholar from the mid 70's, and have read GoVols.com and VolNation for some time. Being an old Tennessee fan, and having lived in (maybe being a "prisoner or war" in) Alabama for over 30 years,I can say I am pleasantly surprised by Coach Dooley. He has embraced our traditions and our heritage, and has done an outstanding job working toward putting together a great staff and recruiting class. And I believe he will make Vol fans proud of the way he approaches his job with class and integrity - and a toughness we need. Count me in as a full supportter of our new Coach. I believe we will be pleased with the new class, the disciplne he instills and eventually the results. Go Coach! Go Vols!

It seems that he is putting some pieces of the puzzle together, but as someone has already mentioned... it all comes down to what happens on Saturdays.

Well said. Good 1st post. I agree. When Coach D was hired I figured a top 20 class would be a good salavage job but top 10 is awesome. I feel better about this hire more and more every day.

Hood, Revis and Schofield (All '09 OL signees) will contribute in 2010. We still have depth issues but with Fulton, Pair, James, Stone (He will be a Vol), Green (He will be a Vol) you have to admit, the future looks bright.
