Ok please im not down on the guy . How do you rate the way he markets the program to recruites. How does his plan work? I like the fact that he doesn't want trouble makers what esle.

I'd give it about a 10,000 on the Scoville scale. I think its pretty spicy.

He apparently closes strong....except for in-state recruits of course. Go to espn if you need a link, I'm mobile.

It's relative, and compared to Fulmer and Kiffin, I think Kiffin did a better job. Fulmer was really struggling at the end recruiting. Of course the sanctions Kiffin was going to get from the NCAA for recruiting violations was going to hurt.

Kiffin was very hit and miss IMO, for every contributor he got he'd have a few busts as well (leave team, got in trouble, etc.). IMO his style of recruiting does better with an already full and healthy roster, not so much a rebuilding one such as ours.

The guy has had one full recruiting class and landed some very solid recruits that he and his staff had 12 months to develope a relationship with while most other programs have been developing relationships with theses kids for 2+ years. The guy proved he can close on NSD. I think we got alot top flight recruits interested in our program but are skiddish with all the instability over the past few years. After we lock down a very solid season in 2011 it will ease the minds of alot of theses guys about CDD being here for along time and the interest will increase!

Coach Dooley appears to have his own, well conceived methods of recruiting. I think so far, so good. The 2011 Class is the best n a long time. As for coaching, he inherited the thinnest team in memory and coached them up the best a body could. I got no worries, because I think the football program is in good hands and on the upswing.

Kiffin did good, but how many players from his Class are still here?

So..................... did ya watch the LSU game, or happen to see what happend in Nashville? "coached them up" at what time, after the game was over?

he's out of his league. the guy took the money and i don't blame him. he's gone in 3 years. Kiffin was superior to Dooley in all aspects except being professional. Sounds a lot like how Cuonzo will end up too. You can't put Pearl on the same level as these guys. Pearl came with a record. These two lower mid level coaches came with nothing except losses and that's why all the idiots who hired them are gone. butt cheeks is next.

You should check how many are still here and contributing before stating Kiffin did good. I think your conclusion would change from good to sucked.

When I hear/read comments comparable to the above, my logic begins to fray. Dooley has signed high rated players and classes. All the previous class can enroll. That is important. Im not "taking up for Dooley". However, the young players we have bring the most excitement. He signed them. So, during the summer we should suddenly wig and spout phrases that Dooley is incapable of signing quality players. Computation failure.

The evidence presented does not equate with the claims.

If this season does not produce some wins Dooley should prepare for heat. Heat at that point will be more justified.

Kiffin was flamboyant and his “snake oil” sales approach definitely appeals to a certain sector of potential signees, particularly those who subscribe to the “fastest-way-to-the-NFL-at-all-costs” perspective on the college experience. He is also a high-risk, high-reward kind of guy. Dooley, on the other hand, is more methodical; he is rebuilding the foundation, one brick at a time. He oozes integrity, which distinctly contrasts with Kiffin, and that approach plays well in the living room with parents.
