When you look at the statistics for both teams, they both seem pretty evenly matched. This game is usually a blowout or a VERY close game. It was 17-16 in 99, 19-17 in 00', and 20-16 in 05'.

Their running back (Steele) rushes for 99 yards a game compared to Hardesty at 105. Their passing attack is what concerns me more than anything, especially with Janzen out and being replaced by Myles or Waggner. Both of their top receivers are sure to be top draft picks next year. Calhoun and Singleton are the top receivers in Memphis football history. Should be interesting to see what happens. If UT's secondary doesn't play well it could be a long day. Anybody agree with this?

I disagree..Huge offensive day for the Vols..I'm predicting Hardesty will run wild for at least a buck 30...

Kiffin is still making his point to the rest of the country..... I don't think they are overlooking anyone.

I totally disagree with you, their offensive numbers are not from SEC defenses for the year. Their team is made up of players who could not cut it with the teams they signed on with.

Memphis just simply isn't very good, they'll get skulled in knoxville end of story.

If Fulmer were still coaching this team, I'd be very worried about a potential upset, but with this coaching staff I'm not the least bit worried about losing. Lane Kiffin will have the team ready to play and we will win by 17 or more.

Their defense has had injuries and the team is fired up to play because of the joke their coach made against Kiffin( not sure why they are? pretty lame joke if you ask me) but anywho we are still 4-4 with a chance at a good bowl. No over look here, Vols do work!

Similar stats, not so similar competition. Oh, and the W-L record is different as well.

LOL......I just knew you were going to get blasted for those comments! On paper, they do seem to be close. But, if their QB doesn't have the time to get it to those tall receivers, it doesn't matter if they're 10' tall. I think we get a lot of pressure, a couple of int's, and run the ball well on them. Not predicting a score, but a big win.

Level of competition. Enough said.

I just don't see a close game. If you are looking at stats, statistically, Ohio would match up better, and, even though it was not one of our best games, we still smoked them.
