I'm not entirely sold on Crompton like most people here seem to be.

He played pretty solid in the LSU game, but the bulk of his passing yards came on that long bomb to Meachem. He looked a bit uncomfortable in the pocket at times.

He has mobility, sure, but he isn't quite like Tebow or Vince Young, more like Steve Young, but he doesn't have the arm. Steve Young used his mobility to buy time to make plays with his arm, and I just am not that sold on Crompton's passing ability.

Thoughts? Opinions? I was hoping we could have a legitimate discussion on his strengths/weaknesses, and not just a bunch of flames.

To be honest I hope we don't have to worry about it until next season.

I don't think anyone's sold on Crompton. We haven't seen much from him yet.

If he had to start against Alabama, I'd be awfully worried about winning the game.

I'm not exactly sold on Crompton. I like his attitude and he's shown he has a good arm. but it will be a wide open race next year so we will see who steps up. I am completely sold on Pryor however if he would like to be our next QB...

I think Stephens and Coleman both seem like viable candidates. This spring is going to be very exciting.

Kind of hard to speak intelligently about a players possible performance next year, based on last years LSU game and other limited appearances, and we are in the between year that has less playing time than last year. However good he reportedly may be, remains to be seen. No pun intended.

From what I've read Stephens has a stronger arm then Crompton, especially since Crompton's had shoulder surgery. Crompton will have to beat him out for the starting QB job.

I agree. The spring will be very interesting. Could be an all out QB battle times three. I believe Coleman is the best of the three but he has a lot to learn between now and then.

I think it is too early to decide if Crompton is going to be our savior or not even pan out. I've liked what I have seen from him so far, but considering he has played only sparringly it is difficult to make any real decision about him. We have been pleasently surprised by our Junior quarterbacks when our stud senior has left in the past.

Sounds like a good pitch to the top bluechip QB out there next recruiting season.

I would like to see us have a run/pass option at qb. Like tee martin was for us and the threat VY gives the titans. In todays game seems to be a good option. Although we still have some very good drop back passers out there(peyton)(brady). I just like having a mobile qb. I agree with what someone said earlier. We haven't seen enough of crompton to know. I do know that he doesn't read defenses as well as ainge. But ainge may read defenses better than anyone in the nation. Spring will be interesting. I hope they decide on one coming out of spring. We've already had to go through the qb carousel once(05). We all know how that turned out.
