The Mike Price fiasco. Bama Hired him, gave him a credit card and he ended up with strippers. At least this was cut off at the pass.

Never underestimate the power of social media. The guys who painted the rock today, and VolNation, plus twitter etc. brought this to a head. In the days prior to social media, it took time to get the word out.

But Bama eventually had to wrestle control away from Paul Bryant Jr. So the keep the cunning resemblance, we just have to wrestle control away from the Haslems.

Quick note: We aren’t Bama. They turned a turd into a goldmine. It was one in a billion situation that worked out for them. Yes, maybe we will get lucky and get it fixed, but I also might hit the powerball tomorrow, so...

A very similar situation happened when Bama hired Rich Rodriguez from WV. The news broke he was hired then the next day he backed out. Out of desperation the AD got on the next plane out to Miami and waited a week for Saban to finish the season.

This^^. Until the boosters pull the rug out from under Haslams it's going to be the SOS just a different day. If I'm Ergen after this happened a second time I would tell the BOT and UT admin before any kind of hire takes place it takes 5 or 6 big booster signatures before anything can go forward.

I think the difference here is social media. National writers have been attacking the fanbase's use of social media all day, but the same can be said of them using their voice to carry Schiano's torch. Bama didn't have to deal with anything like that when they were trying to recover.

Penn State got lucky in back to back football hires that worked out. O'Brien did about as well as possible handcuffed as he was and Franklin is doing well right now.

That's right. How quickly people forget. If people think the Tennessee fan base is some archaic out of touch Appalachian fiddle makers they are either too young to have witnessed what Alabama went through or their dementia is in full force.

My wife's sister and brother both went to Alabama. My father-in-law breathes Alabama 24/7. It's all I hear about when I venture into their world. Alabama this - Alabama that.

I remember when they lost for 10 years. It was rabid. Ugly. Foul. They were ready to burn down the town.

So nobody needs to preach to me about being some out of touch Tennessee fan. They aint seen nothin' yet.

And bama hired an unqualified former qb who was an NFL OC. 4 yrs later saban falls in their lap. Tennessee won't be a single lucky. Take your time and get a good coach.
